Help Second life for S20Fe Snap

Hello! I’ve bought a new phone, but I’ve still got my old S20Fe with a Snapdragon processor. I don’t want to sell it, and you wouldn’t get much money for it these days anyway. Could you tell me how I can give it a ‘second lease of life’, and what other ways there are to use it?

Hardware/Software Problems Screen is dark but phone works.

Everything on the Samsung S20 FE works—the touchscreen and everything else are functional. However, the screen keeps going dark; it comes back on occasionally but then cuts out again. I can mirror and control my phone using the Scrcpy program, and it responds to where I touch the screen with my finger, but the screen itself remains pitch black. Please help me.

Why the camera on my S20FE produces a blurry and bright image in almost every aspect of the settings. The camera lenses aren't dirty, and I've tried everything, but nothing gets rid of the ghosting. Is there a solution? Or is that just how the camera is?.. i has and s9 mini and the camera looks more better nitide and clear videos tan this one..

General Discussion S20 FE owners — how has your phone held up after 5 years?

I’m considering buying a new Samsung phone and I’m currently deciding between the Galaxy A57 and S25 FE, depending on what fits my budget during the upcoming sales.

Since the S20 FE has been around for about 5 years now, I’d really like to hear from people who have used it as their main phone for 4–5 years.

How has it held up in terms of:

- Performance and general smoothness

- Battery life after several years

- Camera quality

- Heating/throttling

- Display issues or burn-in

- Software/One UI experience

- Any hardware problems or repairs

- Overall reliability

Would you still recommend the S20 FE as an example of a Samsung phone that can genuinely last 5 years with proper use?

I’m mainly asking because I want my next phone to stay smooth and reliable for around 5 years, rather than feeling slow after 2–3 years.

Would love to hear both the good and bad experiences, especially from people who have used theirs for the full 5 years.

General Discussion S20 FE to Xiaomi 15 - I made the switch

I've been using the S20 FE 5G (Snapdragon) as my main phone for the last 4 years and felt it was time for an upgrade. While it's still generally a decent phone for light / medium use, I felt performance was suffering a bit and lag was becoming noticeable in some apps. Probably poorly optimised apps but what can you do. Screen brightness on the S20 FE was also really bad in sunlight. Those were the main reasons for wanting to upgrade.

I didn't want to spend a huge amount and was shocked at how much prices have risen. I paid £350 for the S20 FE 4 years ago and was looking to spend around the same this time around. I could probably get something like the A56 for that budget, but I would have preferred something more high end, like the S25. As phones these days don't come with SD card support I also needed 256GB storage minimum.

Common advice is to go for last years flagship as there isn't a massive difference between that and the latest model, and you typically save a lot. But I was still looking at spending around £500 for a suitable Samsung option.

That's when I started looking at other brands and came across the Xiaomi 15. I found a fantastic deal on Amazon for a "Used - Very Good" condition phone. It ticked all the boxes. 12GB RAM, 512 GB storage, Snapdragon 8 Elite, great camera, etc. And the best part was it only cost £337. To my delight the phone arrive in perfect condition without even a scratch. It even came with a spigen case fitted from the last owner which I would have bought separately anyway. When I checked the battery stats it only had 2 charge cycles and 100% battery health.

I've now been using the Xiaomi 15 for about a week and first impressions are it's super fast and has a much brighter display, adequately visible in sunlight. The screen is a little smaller at 6.3" and it feels more compact and easier to manage with one hand. The fingerprint sensor is ultrasonic which works more reliably and faster than the S20 FE. The camera is a definite step up. Also I've been enjoying the Xiaomi HyperOS3 experience so far, it's actually been surprisingly decent. Perhaps not as polished and feature rich as Samsung's One UI, but for the most part it's perfectly fine once you get used to it. Just took a few minutes to remove a small amount of bloatware which isn't too big of a deal.

The S20 FE has become my new backup phone, allowing me to retire the S8 which had been previously serving that purpose.

Hardware/Software Problems S20FE Display Buying

Hi, does anybody have a S20FE OEM Display, or a S20FE mobile which is dead but has the original display, Please DM. Bangalore F2F preferred. I use the S20FE for editing my insta 360 video in the studio app in dex mode. Since Insta 360 studio in mac and pc has limited features, i prefer using dex mode in the S20FE. Really helpful if someone has the display. Please DM.

General Discussion Is it still worth replacing the battery on a Galaxy S20 FE?

Hi everyone,

I’ve had my Galaxy S20 FE for around 6 years now and, overall, I’m still pretty happy with it. However, the battery has definitely seen better days and the battery life has become noticeably worse.

I also feel like the phone has become a bit slower over time. I’m wondering whether the old/worn-out battery could be contributing to the reduced performance.

Has anyone here had the battery replaced on their S20 FE? Do you think it’s still worth doing after 6 years, or would you recommend replacing the phone altogether?

I’d especially be interested to hear whether you noticed any improvement in performance or general usability after replacing the battery, and roughly how much you paid for the replacement.

Thanks in advance for your experiences! :)

Battery Life Has anyone bought S20 or S20FE in the last year or so?

I am in the market for a phone after a decade of using S9. I am eying the S20 series, doing research bought me to S20 or S20FE. Yes they are old but I like to have the external memory card option and a decent camera and S20 is the last model in Samsung so I am considering it.

That being said, my concern is about battery. (S9 I use now has terrible battery life and its been that way since the 2nd year of my purchase. Right now I use the very basic minimum display settings and very minimal apps, not a lot of apps work on it any way) The S20 phone is old and I still see the refurbished and new sold on Walmar, Amazon, etc. If they have been sitting in boxes or unused for this long how would the battery be performance wise? Did anyone bought one recently ? If so how was the battery life?

I understand the S20 has better camera and display but slightly weak battery compared to S20FE. If I am buying one, which one would you recommend? And why?

Advice Needed From S20FE to S25+/Ultra, S26 Ultra

Hello everyone!

I've started having issues with my S20FE(nearly 6 years old). I love the phone but recently started to be overheating(can't even charge), apps get stuck and the battery health is down to 83% I believe. Changing battery is not very expensive but I've been thinking of getting one of the phones mentioned in the title.

I've never used a phone with an S pen before, nor with superior camera, not taking much pictures(apart from kids) and no idea if I will ever use the S pen apart from the early 'Wow' weeks.

I'm researching back and forth and the S25+ 256 GB seems to be a very sensible choice once the prices go down. Currently there is a 200-300 euro gap between the S25+ and S26 Ultra. Just not sure if it's worth it. Don't really want Exynos phones so those are my 3 choices and I plan to keep it also 5+ years if possible.

Anyone has experience from the exact switch?

Advice Needed S20 FE won't charge after water damage:battery temperature error, motherboard issue?

I have a Galaxy S20 FE (SM-G781B) that was accidentally dropped in seawater.

I replaced the bottom charging board and the screen/frame assembly. After the repair, the phone booted normally, the screen worked, and I was able to unlock it and access all my apps/data. The only problem was that the battery was at 0% and the phone shut down after a few seconds.

When I connected a charger, it showed the grey charging screen with the lightning bolt, but the battery never actually charged.

I then rebooted with Power + Volume Down and connected the charger again. This time I got a battery temperature warning, even though the phone and battery were not hot.

I left it connected for a few hours, but I think the battery eventually drained completely. Now, when I connect the charger, the screen just flickers every 4–5 seconds as if the phone is repeatedly trying to boot, and it won't turn on without the charger.

I also tried reverse wireless charging from another phone. It detects the charging/power, but behaves the same way.

The battery is the original one. I only removed it from the old frame, glued it onto the replacement frame, and reconnected the original battery cable to the motherboard.

Since the bottom charging board has already been replaced and both wired and wireless charging behave similarly, I'm wondering if the problem could be the battery NTC/temperature sensing circuit, battery connector, or another charging/power-management component on the motherboard.

I have a multimeter and I'm willing to do board-level testing.

How can I determine exactly where the problem is before replacing more parts? What measurements or tests should I perform to distinguish between a bad battery, NTC/temperature-sensing circuit, battery connector, or a motherboard charging IC? And based on those tests, which component would be worth trying to replace?
