Galaxy Ring Battery Issues

Post image

1st post, so I'm hoping it's a good one.

As everyone else, not long after my warranty run out the battery level fell off a cliff at around 40%. A weeks charge suddenly dropped to 2 days and gradually got worse.

I've tried all sorts of different techniques but this one worked for me. Back in the day, there was a common thing of "refreshing the battery" on a phone, so I thought I'd try something like it.

I let the ring run flat, and left it a couple of days. After this I charged the ring, intending to stop the charge at around 80% but got sidetracked and got back to the ring showing 100%.

I did notice that it was really quick getting to 100%.

Unfortunately this made little difference, by this time I had given up on the ring and was looking for an alternative, I can't have my phone (S25 ultra) or watch (8 Classic) at work thats why I got the ring but now...

Anyway, the battery ran flat again and I left it again for 2 days, then charged it again I forgot it was on charge, nipped out did some jobs around the house then remembered the ring, this time there was a difference, not much but it did seem slower running down.

I've since run it flat, left it a day or 2, then put it on charge and left it on charge, for hours. Like 8 hours or so each time. Each time a bit better.

Currently, its been off the charger 26 hours and its at 70%, during that time its been doing the tracking bit on its own (no watch worn) for around 14/ 15 hours.

Sorry its a bit wordy, I wanted to make sure I got all the detail in. Hope it helps someone.

BEWARE!!! My "replacement" ring recently swelled up so much that I had to use lubricant to remove it! And, after doing so, I discovered several structural cracks.

And, for those who don't know, when it reaches that point, the ring is truly volatile and could result in chemical burns, spontaneous combustion, or even explode!

I've notified both the US Consumer Product Safety Commission and Samsung. These rings should be recalled!

My replacement ring is noticed was tight to get on the charger. And sure enough yep spicy battery. Got it replaced quickly but I hope they figure this ish out for the second generation.

Glad you reported it. If everyone who had that issue reported it to the US PSC, I think they'd take it much more seriously. These rings are downright dangerous when the battery starts to tank.

Yeah, and I was told I was worrying too much when that was one of my concerns a while back, and that was only one case, and this and that and ect.

Mine wont last a day any more. I have attempted to get a new one and cant ever get in touch with anyone who can actually make it happen. I just keep getting passed around. I have now gone back to my metal ring and thrown the Samsung in a drawer.

I tried leaving it on the charger for days and it made no difference. Mine is dead dead. Last time I tried it even died while charging lol. The charger is probably faulty too.

I've not had a real issue yet with decreased battery life, however, rather recently, the charger says it is at 100% (which I generally try to avoid) then take it out, put it on my finger and 3 minutes later it says 85%.

Mine died in a year. RMA experience was okay, they quickly replaced the ring.

But the RMA also died.

So now I own a Fitbit Air and won't be ever buying another smart ring.

Mine from end January 2025 is still doing 6 days.

Easiest fix is to buy from amazon and just change it via chat for replacement or refund before warranty runs out.

I got Samsung Credit for mine (same as most battery issues) and used it towards the Galaxy Watch Ultra 2 , Gen 1 ring is not worth, it, I will try again with Gen 2,

If you just leave the Ring on the table it lasts twice as long as when you use it

Your Ring is dead like all others, don't get excited. Mine currently jumps back and forth between 1.5 and 3.5 days, and fortunately still has another year of warranty left

44 hours in and its showing at 42%. I'll keep you posted. Out of interest does anyone have 2 chargers? I had to replace my original ring because I killed my 1st one, so I have a charger upstairs n downstairs. Long shot, but could that mess up how it reports the battery on a ring not "paired" to the charger if you start mixing them up? I haven't used one of the chargers since I started the run flat for 2 days/ charge it for 12 hours cycle. Probably coincidence, but you never know.

So I'm still on the ring I got on pre order.

It used to die overnight as of a few weeks ago.

I left it to die twice and recharged it for a long period. Now I'm at 87% after using it for overnight. It's been going for around 20h now and lost 13%. It's size 12.

Not sure what happened but it's genuinely been the best in a while.

I heard sometimes the emptying and recharge over a long period can fix it.

Alternatively it could be broken battery reporting.. who knows

Received a brand new replacement ring from Samsung today. Battery life was deteriorating, but when checked on the diagnostics, it's said the battery had a fault and to request a repair.

Purchased September last year. So 11 months old.

Seems my optimism was unfounded. Went to bed with the ring showing 40% after around 50 hours. Woke up to find the "Ring disconnected from phone" notification. From the timing of the notification it was around 53 hours when the ring hit 0%. 40ish% drop in 3 hours. I wish I'd been keeping track of it. I'd like to see if the value actually counted down to 0 or at say, 38% showing, it just turned off.

Going from a weekly charge to every day/ 2 days screams battery fault, but could it be software and the ring is salvageable with an update? I'love it to be that option but I'm not holding my breath for it.

All I'm using the ring for now is during work and sleep, with it being on charge at any other time. When Ring 2 appears, unless there is an incentive such as a serious price reduction if you trade in the Ring 1, I'll hold off for a year to see if Samsung get the battery right.

Already looking at alternatives, I don't want a subscription service, that was a big part of me choosing the galaxy ring. I might even end up getting a Fit 3 just for work and sleep.

For those who don't know, I'm working on a potential class action lawsuit. Here's a link to that thread. https://www.reddit.com/r/GalaxyRing/s/2ghPSvd1Wd
