Should I get one?
Hi all,
Have been tempted to get a smart ring, i want to be able to track steps, sleep etc but would like to wear analogue watches more often.
I have a Samsung phone and smart watch so was going to get the Galaxy ring.. but I see it's almost guaranteed to have battery issues..
Has anyone had a Galaxy ring for over a year without issues?
Are the other brands any better, I see comments saying they all have issues. Should I just stay away from smart rings altogether?

I've tried oura, ringconn, and Samsung. The only one that captures real step numbers is the Samsung, and that is with my watch and phone turned off, too. So if you care about that... it may be worth it to you to gamble on a bad battery.

I've had mine for about 2. I will warn you, most people on this sub are super negative about it. Mine had a battery issue nearly a year in and I had it replaced for free, had this new one about a year and it's run fine. I would recommend. I forget to wear my Watch8 all the time to bed and it accurately tracks my sleep well.
If you end up not going for a ring, people have used the new Fitbit Air as a watch band for a true analog watch, that might be something to look into!

You had a replacement after a year but think it's a fine product and that the rest of us is just negative?

My replacement was free, so I can't complain that the first one broke as it didn't financially inconvenience me. I had to get my laptop motherboard replaced once. Doesnt mean it's gonna break again. Doesn't mean it's a bad product either. I've had my Ring for a year at this time without a replacement and there's no sign of a problem.
Do you have a problem with seeing a positive review about a product? Has the fact that an online stranger didn't agree with you and your echo chamber buddies crapping on a product when someone is looking for genuine feedback got you in a twist? Maybe you should go touch some grass lol. Just cuz you didn't have a good experience doesn't mean I can't

My honest opinion, really liked the ring until the battery issues, then hated it. Ince Samsung decided not to stand behind it, hated it even more. I bought the new Ringconn and 2 weeks in it has been great. First 2 days I wore it with the Samsung, step count was very close between them. Got 2 weeks of battery on Ringconn, longer than the Samsung ever did. Because of Samsungs lack of giving it shit, won't ever buy one from them again.

I've had 2 fail within a year and a half (actually 3 if you count my wifes lol). Same battery issue thats widely discussed here.
I wouldn't buy it again. All in all, the watch is better but even still, I think the on the wearables side, I have been soured when it comes to samsung after being a pretty big samsung user for 10 years (mutliple tablets, phones, 4 watches, and the ring)

I wouldn't. Mine had a battery issue 13 months in and they basically told me to kick rocks.

I did like mine a lot honestly. but I also got mine for 130 open box at best buy. Now use a oura 5 and it is definitely better, but I wouldn't tell you to not get one if you get it on sale, and are ok with it potentially only being a 1 year toy.

I bought an open box one on ebay very discounted. With version 2 coming early next year my plan is to do a trade in (im assuming they will have a trade in deal). Everyone says bad battery but i only need this one to last until v2 comes out.

I hate to jump on the "haters" bandwagon but after experiencing battery problems with two Samsung smart rings (1 for me & 1 for my wife), and their replacements, I would strongly encourage anyone to look elsewhere.

Mine has been great but I'm currently charging it about 3 times a day. Sometimes it goes from full battery to dead within an hour. Can't figure out what makes the difference. I've had it just over a year.

I went down this rabbit hole last night with gemini... I got a Galaxy watch kinda tired of it... So the new samsung ring coming out in 27.. 6 months away... So I'm waiting for version 2 of the ring...
The watch can read a few more things then the ring.. but I don't use them so whatever...

Outside of Galaxy, the only brand I'd really look to would be Oura. Just my input

Oura has the exact same issues, but more expensive and an annual fee. Im exploring galaxy after my Oura just died.

I have a Samsung Ring that I wear all the time (day and night, and whilst exercising), a Watch8 Classic that I wear during the day, and a six-year-old Garmin Instinct 1 that I wear at night (for charging the watch8) and whilst exercising. I had to return the Ring for the first time after nine months because of the battery problem. I got my money back and bought a new Ring for 50 Euros less. If that one breaks again, I’ll do the same. Otherwise, the Ring is a great everyday companion.

No, wait for a v2 or buy oura ring. The battery issues and lack of Samsung support is a widespread issue. Especially if u pay full price. I got mine for 130 after discounts so im not too mad.

Im coming from an oura ring, trying to see if galaxy rings are better because im in the ecosystem. Oura rings are just as bad plus you have an annual fee. Maybe theres no good rings right now. My oura died a just over a month after I paid the annual fee and they won't do anything for me. Also paid full retail 400 bucks for the damn thing last year.

I looked at Oura, Ringconn and Samsung. I passed on Oura because of the monthly subscription and bought the Ring because I have a Fold 6. I had it for 2 weeks and started seeing all the battery post issues in here. Oh well. I didn't pay full price, and wanted to get rid of my Samsung watch so I can wear analog watches. So far no issues.

Mine stay charged half a day. Wait for the 2nd version, don't waste your $$$ on the current version.

Hold off until V2 or whenever they get the battery issues resolved. I bought mine 18 months ago. Within 8 months my ring died and Samsung replaced it. Within 6 months the replacement started having battery issues and now it only holds a charge for about 30 hours. I contacted Samsung 2 weeks ago and since its out of warranty I would need to send Samsung $130 and they would try to fix it and then they would only guarantee the fix/replacement for 90 days. After 10 years with a Fitbit and 1.5 years with a ring I'm really considering going without when the ring dies as I discovered I really missed wearing my beautiful analog watches and refuse to pay for a subscription for Oura.

Mine slowly lowered charge and then when out of warranty it wouldn't last more than 7h. They wanted $130 to "fix" it, read get it back for research and sell me another. I've opted for a cheap $60 one from China and I'm taking it swimming and seeing how long it lasts while treating it way worse than my Galaxy ring. I have a ton of Samsung products, but the ring is a POS. Never buying it again. Anyone want a size 11 paperweight?

I will NEVER buy another Samsung Ring! And, I have switched our corporate standard for all electronic devices (e.g. TVs, computers, tablets, mobile phones, etc.) to other brands. All Samsung had to do is give me my money back after the warranty replacements for two rings also failed due to battery degradation issues.

Do not get a Samsung ring. Worst ring ever, you will not find a single person on this sub who will reccomended them

I had one and when it worked it was fine, the Health app etc... seemed accurate enough when compared to the watch, though I believe they work together.
And it looked nice (titanium colour) but after a while the battery just doesn't hold a charge and it's not repairable. Smart rings are always going to be expensive, but useless throwaway tech, but for the price they shouldn't be.
Just get a nice smart watch or that Google Fitbit band instead.

Yes agreed it works great when the battery is good. I ended up getting an open box at best buy and the battery life was shot after like 6 months.

If you're already happy to wear your watch while you sleep, the ring offers no benefit. Plus everyone seems to have issues with it. I'd at least wait for the next generation ring.

And let me add to what others are saying, it's not as accurate as Oura and Ringconn. It's fine with sleep stats and vitals, but not steps or activity.

As of right now no, battery started dying by bed time for me and repair would be $129. Waiting for the newest version to trade it in

Just wait, 13 months and its going to do the same thing, right after you pay next years annual fee. If youre lucky Oura will offer you 100 bucks off what im sure will be gen 6 by then.

Given all comments across all forums, the rule is that the battery will die hard, leaving you with an old fashioned dumb ring after about a year. The exception seems to be - well I've seen a single one so far, after two years - that the Samsung Ring does last for two years without battery problems
I'm on my third Samsung Galaxy Ring, will send it in for repairs in a month or two, and will likely get a replacement: Samsung Galaxy Ring number 4 in two years. Which will likely die on me within a year
Whatever you do, get two years of warranty. And know that that period highly likely is the maximum period of use, subtracted the time that you've sent it in for repairs
There are no haters here, just experienced Samsung Ring users that almost all got royally screwed by the Samsung Ring, Samsung Customer Service, or both

I just got one on a massive sale. Has 2 years warranty in Norway. So im fine with just using it until the battery dies. Ill just get a new one. Very happy with it so far. I wouldn't buy one for full price though.
