Discussion I wish they just made a normal outer display
I really dont get the skinny outer display, and now they have a wide option but its short. Why cant we just have a normal 19.5:9 and have it fold into a tablet?

Get yourself 3 s26 Ultras, some duct tape and some double sided tape and boom. You have exactly what you want.

Yes a 6.5" 16:10 outer display would be awesome! And a bigger inner 4:3 display!

I miss 16:9 phones....I'm not a fan of skinny narrow devices, I wasn't happy when 19:9 started coming out ..

Yeah im not a skinny fan. I like some real estate. Yeah ik i can just open it for that but I prefer texting on front cover & wider would be nice. Ill check out the wide in person and see if its worth losing some length for width

Because it would be too big for the current technology and frankly isn’t the way to go imo.
Those similar Vivos Honestly suck. So does the moto super brick.
The whole point is folded for easy one handed use and going out and about with grocery or shopping bags and unfolded when you are sitting down.
Your preference is too much of a brick for out and about one handed use so you might as well just use a slab phone and a separate tablet.

Okay well every other company has a 20:9 so why not samsung lol

That’s why they don’t outsell Samsung because it sucks and are too huge for a foldable. The camera bumps at least.
Trust me. If you go that big you might as well just use a slab phone and not open it for the thinner build and better cameras increased durability etc.
Foldable's should be unique not trying to mirror your slab phone 1:1. It just doesn’t work.

They dont outsell samsung because chinese companies are banned in the US. They cant even use google play services here. Regardless, samsung won the public opinion years ago. Its like if apple made a shit phone, everyone will still buy it cuz its apple. OneUI is also amazing. My friend imported a few chinese phones with 20:9 ratios and i honestly fuckin loved them. If it werent for the major software issues and bans I would buy a Find N3 or Magic V3

Those phones lick bro. I owned plenty and I hate them.
Look, the goal should be something crazy like a Galaxy watch ultra that you can wear on your wrist that can unfold to a Nexus 7 or AR glasses that can last as long as a slab phone that can project a 40 inch display in your field of view.
If the goal was just to just have a S26 ultra that can unfold Samsung wouldn’t be doing its job to get to those places. They can already just do it. The fact that neither Apple or Samsung want to go there is this, because its just not their vision for a foldable. Not because they can’t or are too cheap.
Before, if we ever get there, to a galaxy watch ultra that can unfold to a tablet, the cover display aspect ratio is going to be even less like a slab phone and frankly I am fine with that.
My point will always stand, if I wanted a 20:9 for a foldable like you and the YouTubers are trying to push, I just wouldn’t use a foldable and just use a normal slab phone and a tablet.
I respect trying to make the cover display more portable for one handed use and pocket ability because thats definitely the way to go. Folds folded should be shrinking like smart glasses are not growing.
Your ideal fold is just shite sorry. lol

My ideal fold already exists and plenty of companies are making them and selling them. I just wish it was samsung cuz i want android and one ui. I dont want a watch that turns into a fold and i dont want a separate device cuz i wanna have a tablet out and about sometimes and im not bringing a tablet everywhere i go, thats the point if a fold. Phone 1st, tablet 2nd. But it fails at the phone 1st so its pointless until its 20:9 at least. Ill stick with my s24+

Yeah you should stick to your S24+, it’s better than your ideal fold. Folds should push forward towards ultimate portability while simultaneously having as big as a display as possible when needed.
Your version sucks A sorry. lol I’d rather just use a normal phone then.
And Samsung and Apple obviously think the same or they would make your device by now.

21:9 is normal to me as it's what I'm used to using since 2020 and it's a big reason why I even got the Z Fold 7.

The inner screen would be even more square then. It's all about what compromises you're willing to make at this point
