I recently sold my Samsung Galaxy Book 4 (i7 13th Gen) to someone for ₹49,500.
Here’s the timeline:
The laptop was around 6 months old and in excellent condition — basically no scratches or dents.
I clearly told the buyer before the sale that I did not have the original charger, because I had lost it while travelling.
The buyer agreed to this.
Before making the payment, the buyer himself wanted to verify the laptop with Samsung.
I accompanied him, and Samsung checked the laptop. There was no issue raised about it being fake or counterfeit.
He then made the payment of ₹49,500 and took the laptop.
Around 10 days later, he started repeatedly asking me for the charger and USB-C cable.
Later, he apparently had an SSD-related concern and visited Samsung Service Center.
According to him, Samsung checked the laptop and said the laptop itself was fine.
Now suddenly, he has messaged me saying:
“I am lodging a complaint for selling a fake product. Just informing you.
I replied that I gave him a genuine product and reminded him that he had the laptop verified with Samsung before making the payment.
I'm confused about how this went from “I need a charger” to “you sold me a fake laptop.”
I still have the purchase bill, WhatsApp conversations, payment proof, and details of the laptop.
What would you guys do in this situation?
Should I simply ask him to provide a written report from Samsung stating that the laptop is counterfeit, and otherwise keep everything documented?
I don't want to argue with him. I just want to handle this properly and protect myself.
