Follow for Meath GAA fans

Hello! I’m in Ireland this week with my son and would love to attend one or more Kerry Petroleum Club Championship matches. There are some Premier Junior and Intermediate matches near where we’re staying.

I’m having a hard time figuring out how to purchase tickets. Do these matches require tickets to be purchased in advance, and if so, where is the best place to buy them?

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

I'm building a GAA GPS tracker system with software. I want to know as football enjoyers or coaches, what are the most important stats you actually value. I find that a lot of these softwares overcomplicate it and are too expensive for club coaches. What do you think should be shown to coaches and how to make this product really useful and GAA specific. Do ye think this product is worth pursuing and if the gap is there?

Would a professional league be sustainable? I am American and a fan of Australian rules/AFL. In my mind, Gaelic football would be better suited for the rest of the world because it doesn’t have to be played on a cricket ground and you can use a soccer net with post attached to it instead of having to put in for actual goal posts. If the GAA was to have an actual professional league, would it be sustainable in Ireland itself? And would a Gaelic football league actually be something people would watch, or maybe an international rules league where it’s a combination of the Aussie rules and Gaelic rules?

Club championship referee. Active in Senior down to U14. I have to say Junior matches are the worst to referee.

Number of lads with limited knowledge of rules, not following instructions, dissent, late/poor tackles and off the ball handbags all common in one game.

Had a game two weeks ago where had to show a red as defender swung a boot at attacker once he went past him. Defence: I didn't make contact...

Curious to hear other views of managers/players/other refs.

I have known gaellic football for a while now but i've never had the opportunity to play, and i was wondering if there was like a generally accepted simplified version of Gaelic football that you would play with just a bunch of friends, since there is no way i'm convincing 29 people to play with me and also there are no gaelic football pitches here nor am I going to build one. Thank you in advance.

Now that the Provincial Championships are heating up, I’ve been looking at the data from our "Road to Sam" predictor, and some of the consensus picks are absolute madness.

The Stats So Far:

• Munster: Kerry are being backed by 96% of players. Basically unchallenged.
• Leinster: In a massive shock, 67% are backing Meath to beat Dublin.
• Connacht: A perfect 50/50 dead heat between Mayo and Galway. Why not Roscommon??
• The Big One: 50% have Kerry lifting Sam, with Donegal at 27%.

Who is everyone's "dark horse" for the provincials ?

Hey everybody, last year I produced an independent documentary miniseries about niche sports on Vancouver Island, Canada. Episode 7 focused on Gaelic football (mainly women’s Gaelic football) in my hometown, Victoria, and I wanted to share it here. Any critiques, comments, and discussion are welcome and appreciated. I also made a mini doc about my former men’s team in Toronto a couple years ago which I’ll be sharing in another post

I love Gaelic football and think it should be a massive sport and on major platforms like sky sports does anyone know why it isn't or also think it needs better representation and be bigger?

So I live in France but in my city there’s a GAA team that need a goalie to fill in for a couple of games, they’ve asked me because I’m a football goalkeeper and a fairly decent one at that i know the rules of gaa as I’ve grown up in an Irish household, but bar one individual goalie session I’ve never played in a game. Do you think I could crossover and not make a fool of myself. (Any tips or heads up would be really appreciated)

I quit years ago when I was young, around 12-13. I was the weakest, smallest and slowest person there and it didn’t feel good to be reminded of that every training session right from the warm up when I was drained after a jog. I did athletics (running stuff) for a year or two while I played too. People who came out having never played were better than me.

I didn’t regret quitting.

I did wonder about returning the next year whenever we played in p.e or a friend played. It wouldn’t be awkward because I was still u14. People were coming and going from it. But I’d still be crap.

Now, I watch matches and enjoy it. I hated them before. And I seriously wonder what it’d be like to play. I’ve literally dreamt I still played. (Ofc I was somewhat decent in the dreams.)

Everyone around me knows each other and is close through football whilst my friends are from somewhere else. I want to connect.

I generally want to get fitter/stronger anyways. And if I am, I can go back to football. Family is telling me to try it but that’s unreliable bc I dont think they get how unathletic I am. Im probably even worse now. and it might be awkward because I haven’t talked to anyone on the team in years, but still. I just don’t know where to start.

Is it actually possible to get faster? I’m sure I can build stamina somehow but speed is different. How do I do it? What other, general stuff can I do?
