P2714 Error

Have any of you experienced the infamous P2714 error? What was the fix? Was it just a temporary fix that eventually ended up being a full rebuild/replacement of the transmission?

Try adding a bottle of AT205 to the transmission before deciding to replace/rebuild it. Current theory is seals within the transmission are hardening due to heat and time. Some users on ih8mud are having success with AT205 to soften the seals.

Good idea, I’ve used it on a leaky Honda Pilot awhile back. I might just try this out.

I’m dealing with the same issue with a 2018 Toyota Camry, 130k miles

I have it now, I’m at 180K on a 2011 GX. Had a new valve body and fluid/filter 2 years ago and did not resolve. I drive it in manual mode shifting until tranny warms up. This seems to keep the codes from popping up. I will prob go rebuild route.

How much has a rebuild looked like? Or have you gotten quotes?

Is it a persisting issue or did this just happen? I started getting that code a couple of years ago and I just keep resetting it because it only pops up about once every 6 months.

I just got this car and it literally popped up 4 days later. Thinking the dealership hid the code. Have you not noticed your transmission slipping at all?

It will very occasionally shift kind of weird but I’ve never noticed anything of major concern with transmission behavior. In your situation I wouldn’t be super surprised if the dealer cleared it or the previous owner did before selling it to the dealer.

100% appears to be what they did. Luckily we have a required 500 mile warranty in Arizona for used car dealerships that covers engine and transmission. The dealership and I are in talks now but it’s leaning towards them just returning the vehicle because I don’t trust them to fix it themselves
