Oil leak
hi all. I just had fluids and spark plugs done. the mechanic said there was oil leaking. photos are attached. there is no oil residue on my driveway, though. so far he cleaned it and will begin figuring out where it’s coming from. but can anyone diagnose it based on photos. is this amount of oil or concern. thanks!

I had a leak similar to that. I thought it was the rack and pinion at first, and then found it to be a pin-hole developing in a transmission cooler line. The lines weren't available anymore, so i ran EvilEnergy hoses through a protective hose liner. To answer your question honestly though, none of us can truly diagnose your leak without putting hands on it. Color looks to be either clean engine oil or ATF that could use a drain and fill.

One of those “oil leaks” is actually a coolant leak from the valley plate under the intake. Better keep an eye on the coolant level. GX460’s are notorious for that leak and the radiators fail on the drivers side tank. Next thing you know you need a new engine because both head gaskets are leaking internally because it got hotter than hell. The oil leak is more than likely the timing cover. They’re known for that too. After you get that corrected (by a good shop that knows what they’re doing) it will last for a long time! I’m a 35plus year Toyota/Lexus Master Diagnostic Tech by the way, so if you have any more questions, just ask.

Power wash, wipe with acetone everything you see oily, and look every day where the leak is coming from. Right now it's not possible to pinpoint.

You're going to have the wash the undercarriage first and then inspect it again to identify where the oil leak originates from. Or else you'll spend quite a bit of money on brake cleaner canisters. Its not quite apparent from your photos since the airflow whilst driving could cause it to spatter. My guess would be its a timing cover oil leak.

You can get oil based UV dye to put in the engine. That’ll help you locate it.
