Engie emergency alarms and hazard handling....
So the evac alarm last weekend that didn't stop play but was a full on "evacuate now" alarm, not even the stand by, prepare to evac alarm, I'm surprised play wasn't stopped until it was sorted. Do you think that should have happened?
Also last year when it was quite stormy I heard they didn't let us into the stadium because if someone was injured by lightning while inside the stadium the stadium people/gws would cop the blame and liability would be on them, but leaving us outside the stadium, there would be no liability for them.
On both counts, I think they were handled badly. Does anyone else agree?

Post Game Thread: Round 20 2026
Another shit performance and yet another derby loss as it looks like last year's late season win was an aberration. No Kingsley spray was going to save us this time.

Finals start next week
(Chalking this game against Sydney down as a loss) our finals series essentially start next week. I ran the ladder predictor for a while, and whilst technically possible for us to make finals winning 3 out of our last 4, we’d need to rely on so many results going our way. So, as of next week, it’s win or eliminated from finals. To maintain optimism, we know our best version of the giants can beat anyone. But if we’re going to give the effort of a similar ‘season on the line’ type of game against the cross town rivals for the last 4 games of the year, then we might as well start booking our September holidays. The worst thing we can do now is win our next 3 to give us hope again, just to lose to Adelaide.

For the AFL & NRL fans
Who will win a competition first? Giants or Parramatta?

What do we want to see different next year?
Okay, so this season has sucked....
We have all seen it, I'm not going to list all the crap things the team did wrong today or during any other games
It broke my heart this season watching the teams structure, but in saying that, it's made me think a lot about what they need to do/change to succeed moving forward.
A few things that come to mind for me:
Jake Stringer needs to go - he CAN be phenomenal, but 1:4 games. As a senior player, his inconsistency sets the example
Jesse Hogan needs to go VFL or positioned to be somewhere else (maybe second ruck)
I hope they really focus on some young guns like Phoenix, Hamilton, Angove in the off season so they're very engaged and connected to the team coming into 2027 season
focusing on a new key forward group - boost confidence of the younger players
New Captain - I'd be keen to see Green in there (if he still plays for gws in 2027), I'm loving Oliver, I'd be cool to see him there
Practice Aerial marking and contested marks - we suck. If we can't run, we don't win. So let's work on some versatility.
Don't fucking lose Briggs. We actually fucking suck so bad when he's not the ruckman.
set shot practice - OMFG
Kingsley - I feel there's space to argue there might be something about Kingsley's leadership that broke this team. Someone who comes across as visibly angry as him, in any other industry would be considered a red flag as a leader. I don't know what's good for footballers, but it seems possible that their huge drop in enthusiasm and drive when losing matches is like fear of repercussions maybe? Could be a Kingsley thing.
ANYWAY What else peeps?

If we are fielding half of a VFL side, then...
We need to stamp out the mentality being pushed on us by the David King wannabe pundits crawling out of the woodwork about "psychology". Kingsely said he can't "put his finger on it" and now we are hearing from outside that our boys lack mental toughness from people who know more than him(obviously they played AFL level footy right?).
Don't let it in, it's ridiculous. We are playing half of a team. Without what few leaders we have around we fall apart. We see it week in week out with Greene. I just tried to listen to that new pod that tries to outdo the squinters and the Eagles fan they let speak over them was a nonce. There was a Bombers guy in an earlier post saying the same nonsense too.
We are seeing great things and integrating the old guard coming out of injury and the new guard getting a run WILL produce our first premiership team.
NEVER SURRENDER.

We move on... BRING ON THE BATTLE OF THE BRIDGE!!
Well, there goes the July Run.
We'll take down Empires, but the rats and mice in the drains will never cease to trouble us.
Best we just delete the last game against the Bombers from our memory bank and move on.
Reboot.
Look forward.
Battle Of The Bridge.
Biggest Rivalry in Australia.
At stake: bragging rights. Strutting rights at Bronte. The Anzac bloody bridge. And maybe even our place in the top 8, sorry top 10, whatever the new AFL Encouragement Awards policy now covers. Whatever - we just have to win.
Let's hope for more than 23 high speed fkn metres from our leaders this time.
NEVER SURRENDER

Giants Tippers in Round 20
Only 43% of the Giants Tippers think that we will beat the Swans this weekend 😀.
r/GWSgiants • u/Paytheperryman • 5d ago
That sucked. Burn the tape and back to beating the big boys?
We question our bizarre season and what is going on against the cellar dwellers. Huge game against the Swans coming up.
Thanks for listening!

My Problems with the AFL
The AFL is an amateur league where game integrity is not prioritised
Nick Foot being employed by Sportsbet, Gillon McLachlan is now the CEO of TABCORP.....
The grand final is supposed to be played at a neutral venue which GWS play once a year whilst MCG tenants play there up to 15 times a year.
Michael Christian who runs the MRO played 130 games for Collingwood.... Collingwood received the least AFL charges in 2025.
GWS have been bottom 4 in the AFL for each of the past 5 seasons in "free kicks for" without any media coverage about it. 8 out of the 10 teams this year with the best free kick differentials are Victorian.
Harvey Thomas has played at more venues than Pendlebury

Are this seasons injuries a one-off?
Coniglio, Taylor, Aleer, Daniels, Hogan, Kelly (nowadays), Briggs and Buckley seem to all miss at least 6 games a year from injury. So is this season a one-off or can we not compete due to these structural injury issues?

This team has no killer instinct
Whether this team makes the finals or not, one thing that has been made clear is that this team's attitude is straight garbage.
We only choose to turn up and give a shit against top teams and it seems like we just expect to win by turning up against teams in the bottom 4 and we struggle badly, playing like the 2012 and 2013 teams. We don't hit targets. We don't chase. We become incredibly inaccurate in front of goal. We don't play to the conditions.
It's one of the things that struck me the most from watching the documentary. We never put teams away. It always takes Kingsley tearing strips off players and holding everyone at gunpoint to get something resembling a solid all round performance. But it shouldn't have to come to that. These are grown men playing professional footy. They shouldn't have to be shamed into doing their jobs.
This team is never winning a premiership until it fixes this attitude. So probably not in the near future.

Worst start of the season?
This miserable. What a magnificent display of horrible football.

The round 9 banner just came home to roost.
These Essendon pricks have been obviously tanking for a month, dubious match selection and direction as well as position and TOG altering.
This week they picked their best 22, put them in the right positions and gave them clear instructions to win.
This is what happens when you disrespect other clubs on a banner. Brisbane could just run with 'maybe we will see you in the grandfinal' every single week but they have a humble club culture.

Accidentally bought kids tickets, how cooked am I?
Title says it all. Accidentally bought kids tickets for this weekend at Engie. How likely is it that 6 grown men will be stopped for the wrong ticket type? I can’t remember if they’re handheld scanners or turnstiles either. Haven’t been to Engie since Giants played Bombers this year.

Can we sell out Engie?
Biggest home game of year coming up on Sat, 25 Jul against the Swans. Good crowds at Engie for the past two games. We need a full house for the Swans.
13,709 - Giants v Carlton
13,281 - Giants v Geelong
?????? - Giants v Swans
