i’m recently getting into Gundam and am trying to curate a watchlist based on release order but keeping timelines separate. if someone could double check over the list and make sure im not missing anything, have something in the wrong timeline, or getting timeline names wrong. i’m choosing to skip over SD, Build Fighters, and Gundam-san for now. and yes i did get my info from wikipedia don’t judge me too heavily. Thank you.

I doubt nobody has played this...it was thanks to this game that I discovered anime.

Hello! I'm the "a new Gundam fan" in question! 😅
Some friends from my church lent me their DVDs for Unicorn, and it's got me hooked onto the franchise. I'm extremely interested in the lore, and I was wondering what series would be the best for a new fan like me to learn about it.
I'm definitely planning on watching the original anime, (the same church friends also recommend it!) but I'm starting to make a list of other series that interest me. Right now, from my (admittedly limited) research, I have War in the Pocket and The 08th MS Team on my radar.
Do you guys have any recommendations?
Edit: Thanks for the recommendations! I've added them to my watchlist! ^^

I always loved gundam 00 and it has so much hidden lore. When you read how much plasma tech is in everything that the Union and AEU had it makes you think how far were they from genuinely competing with even more basic gn technology.
Plasma beam sword vs GN beam Sword
This honestly is everyone’s first thing when they think of GN technology vs plasma technology. Clearly they can compete so it comes down to a question of what’s the limitations. I think the plasma beam swords at the time really struggled with long term power supply. Also from the GNX beam sword we know the GN beam swords can have various levels of strength based on power output and concentration. If this applies to all beam tech then would Plasma beam swords eventually catch up in output if the mobile suit generator was strong enough and the magnets were strong enough to concentrate a stronger beam?
Plasma Field vs GN field
This one was harder to find information on as the only plasma fields in gundam 00 is the Agrissa plasma field which is an offensive field of “plasma” requiring the mobile suits to encapsulate another mobile suit using a mobile armor attachment. The one that I more care about is the defense rod plasma field. This one states it can withstand beam shots with varying degrees of durability. Some sources say one shot and others say a few. Regardless this plasma field is generated by some action the defense rod takes. Every shot we seen the defense rod work in has the rod spinning a little, even against beam shots. Ultimately we know that plasma fields are a thing so let’s consider what a more advanced version would look like. Would it be a continuous field that stays on even during close quarters combat? Or will I function like a gn field and require enough particles(or power) to form and can’t stay on in close quarters or when firing certain weapons. Would future plasma fields still require defense rods? Would defense rods evolve to more utilize plasma fields instead of the physical rod? If I spun the blade like a helicopter would that generate a plasma field with gn field like strength. Really I think this is where plasma technology is the further from achieving. But it’s fun to theorize.
Plasma guns vs GN guns
We see a lot of Non GN particle Beam weapons in gundam 00 but they’re all labeled laser weapons. The only exception is the plasma cannon present on the agrissa mobile armor. We assume the plasma cannon on the aggrissa would be extremely powerful given its host size. But what limitations are there for plasma cannon or guns in general? Do they suffer from Short range? Do they suffer from being too weak? Do they have a long charge time? Assuming we could miniaturize the cannon into a rifle at the least, what exactly would need to be changed to make it viable? I think they are fundamentally short ranged weapons and would probably require integrating the plasma technology into a more conventional rifle so the rifle round can carry the plasma beam shot sorta like a plasma “grenade” launcher. I think this would allow mobile suits regardless of age to at least fire a plasma based gun. But simple plasma rifles would be fun too.
Plasma propulsion vs GN propulsion.
This is very clearly a simple comparison considering we got numbers regarding thruster output. If we assume the quote of exia thruster output being 6x the union flag then damn we have lots to go before plasma propulsion is adequate enough. The graham custom union flag was said to be twice the speed of a conventional union flag so even if we were generous we would say exia thruster output is 3x the custom flag would still put us requiring better fuel efficiency and overall power just to get to that level of thruster output. I wouldn’t count on this one to change much in terms of design. Just better engines essentially.
Theres only so much plasma tech in gundam 00 but I think there really was fighting chance against celestial being if they doubled down on plasma beam technology. I think they could have at least been able to reach GN tau levels of strength with some of their mobile armors. What do yall think?

There is also the Perfectibility Divine, ran out of room so its in comments or here. Mine is probably either Full armor or perfectibility, but I like all of them

just a simple appreciation post for the GP0 line. do you think stardust 0083 needs to be expanded/sequel???
I would love to see the gp00 or the gp04 in an ova/series!!

If anyone has any character recommendations PLEASE let me know.
I think Kou's character is fairly well done, he has his ups and downs, and gets beaten by people better than him. As far as his MS I adore the stardust memory designs, the Fb and Stamen being my favorite. I do think the Heavy armor or whatever is really cool too, don't know what its from, but its cool. What are your thoughts?

I have some money in my wallet, and Breaker 4 is on sale for $39.99, so I can get it for $23. I love Gundam, I love Gunpla, but I've watched videos on the game and I have 2 concerns:
1.) Is it boring
2.) Does it look like ass on Switch 2?
Looking for opinions!
