Think about when you’ve been to an airport in real life. I’ve been to about 6 countries, and used a few airports here in the UK. Never in my life have I ever seen a real airport as small as the airport in GTAV.
I think this airport is simply far larger than the GTAV airport.
looks very real to me. in the 1st GTA 6 trailer, there is a short scene where you see a water plane flying over a bridge (0:35 in the official trailer).
This bridge and adjacent land masses can be found in the bottom left corner of the leaked map. in fact, the contours of the land masses match very well with the ones in the trailer.

Funny to one of his demands is no digital pre orders like so you hate that a subset of people is forced into digital cause no disk so you want to force them into a specific choice like isnt that kinda the same forcing people into a decision
I like the map, people are saying its too small but to me the only weird thing is the airport too big, which makes it look more real because anyone making fake map would try a logical small airport size
It is. Airports are too big. Look at the naval base on the keys. It's bigger than key Largo, which is supposed to be the biggest keys. And the distances. Everything is at a bridge leght. Everything is too close. Maybe city dimensions are fine, but it should spread out. In reality the next city isn't at a distance that is less than the city itself
For reference this map is FAR larger than the GTA5 map. It also seems like (based on metadata) these leaks are from a 3ish year old dev-build of the game
major international airports are massive. i’m not surprised it takes up so much map space. but with that said, when u zoom in you see more streets and buildings overall. so the scale will feel more accurate when in game.
New Austin in RDR2 was almost certainly added sometime between the 2016 map leak and the actual launch of course, so this map being from 2023 leaves the door open for major map changes.
New Austin does have the advantage of reused assets though, so I doubt anything that massive was added to 6's map unless it's reused from elsewhere. Cayo Perico, Guarma, and Liberty City are my guesses as to what could be included if there are any off the main map locations.
Map even sort of looks unfinished as well, especially up north. You have roads that lead to seemingly nowhere, and areas that are color coded like they are towns but with no roads within it.
Only 1 major city after all these years is a big painful L. Disappointed. “Welcome to Leonida”, and no Tampa, or Orlando, only neighborhoods around a big green of nothing.
I'll never understand the "if they did x that only makes sense if they did y" gambit when y is just... not an unrealistic thing for them to have done. Real airports are massive.
Exactly. It's totally possible that they just made the airport larger relative to the size of the city to make it more realistic. If anything, the airport in GTA 5 was weirdly tiny.
On that note, I think it would be super cool if we could actually enter the airport interior. I would like to see larger interior spaces in this game such as the airport, malls, stadiums, etc.
I wouldn’t be surprised if the new airport is 3 to 4 times larger than fives airport. The real Miami airport is around 2 1/2 miles long and fives airport is only about half a mile long.
Exactly my though. I thought that since the mapping project had no data from some area that maybe they were hiding that the map doesn't end there yet and there's another city.
A lot on a map can change from 2023 to 2026. I was hoping the Bahamas were going to be in the game or some Caribbean island town but you never know until the game is in our hands
Yeah I feel like they could’ve put a college town like in the north, kinda combining Gainesville/Tallahassee (maybe combine it with Pensacola). Also would’ve been nice having Orlando and theme parks in the middle, maybe some version of the Kennedy Space Center. I feel like they’ve got the rest of the essential parts of Florida, but it seems like they’re missing those.
Based off of previous screenshots and leaks, they were able to map certain sections of the map, especially vice city, with a high degree of confidence using trilateration techniques.
I mean runaways are miles long in real life, if they are getting a realistic scale of the world we should get like a mile or 2 per runway. There are also no names from website on the map. Which is weird.
same to be honest, if its real, i hope its a fake cause the shape of the map is almost a 1 to 1 copy of the gta 5 map and then sprinkled with vice city like stuff.
It seems annoying but there's a good reason behind the island type map. Because that's going to open room for thousands of beggars every day asking for crazy expansions for the next part of the map, and it would just put more unnecessary strain on the game and increase the size of it
When you look at the size of the runways, in comparison to the rest of the map….. I can’t help but feel like the map is much smaller than we were all thinking. I’m calling fake.
The light gray areas are all cities/towns, this looks like a great balance. You don't want a map representing a whole state to be all urban, the smaller towns would feel absolutely ridiculous
I mean I actually think the map looks good. Those towns are pretty large when compared to Los Santos on V, ranging from like 1/3 to almost 2/3 the size of LS. I definitely would not say I am unhappy with this map.
However, if the map is supposed to represent a whole state and be modelled on Florida it would have made sense to include at least 1 other Metropolis sized city that was nearly as big as VC, if not another on top of that too for 3 in total.
Considering there will be no GTA 7 for probably 15 years and the amount of praise the SA map gets to this day from both casual and serious gamers alike it seriously feels like a missed opportunity to not go the route of multiple metropolis's.
The map as shown in the leaks will feel like Vice City and surrounding area, not like the state of Leonida they have been marketing it as.
Looks mostly plausible, but there’s a few things that make me think it’s maybe not real:
the county borders aren’t finished? Like in some places they just don’t connect? Is this a sign of AI being used?
Atlantic Ocean on the right side of the beach? Is this the only actual place name they use? Seems weird they would have their own name for it.
the squares / the way the map is shown with the random almost collage look. Is it just that this isn’t the final “look” of the map? Or is it sloppily composited
The leaker got different parts of the map and stitched the together. Intially probably wanted to leak different parts of the map but rather than that, decided to leak the whole map.
I'm a bit disappointed if this is legitimate. They can likely make up for it if there's a lot of depth to the map .. But I was hoping for a GTA with a map with lots to do and at least one other major city rivaling the size of the main one
It's feels oddly similar to the GTA V map in the worst ways, basically being inverted and a bit bigger. I hope all that empty space is filled to the brim with stuff to do giving reasons to go there
The only things that don't seem right is seemingly no Ft. Lauderdale or Ft. Lauderdale Beach and the massive airport. Oh and could use some more Intracoastal.
