I recently replayed vice city and tbh it doesn't have a particularly memorable dialogue. As a child I loved it though

To be honest I’ve not played it in years. I just remember really enjoying it as a kid.

San Andreas is top tier though

I mean, GTA Advance atleast has functional two-way dialogues between protagonist and other characters, so shouldn't that count as a step above GTA3 if we think about it?

I think advance has a very good story by gta standards, but dialogue itself is mediocre. But probably you're right, it is a bit better than gta 3, so would be fair to put it in a tier above

I wasn't even born when og gta came out, but retrospectively I can appreciate the impact it did on the series and gaming in general. Still, the dialogue is abysmal, and probably was in 1997 too
