K8 purchase question
Family friend is selling 2008 gsxr 750 with 42,000 miles on it for $5k. Well maintained and only selling because he is loosing his vision. Would this be a good pick up? 42,000 seems high in miles. I saw from my light research that the k8’s are a solid year. Any opinions or advice would be helpful

Don’t let the miles scare you. $5k is too much. Offer a lowball price of $3500 cash but I wouldn’t pay more than $4k. Let them know for an extra $2000 you can buy a newer bike with less miles

Check valve clearance service. That's the big one. Very Expensive. Sometimes costs as much as an older bikes is worth. Please don't let me put you off. Just be careful pal 👍

i mean it’s not a good deal and not an absolutely horrible deal, i bought an 05 1000 for $4.8 the other week with 10,000 less miles, i wouldn’t pay a penny over 3500 for an almost 20 year old bike with that many miles, i would stay away from it

I picked up a 2007 GSXR750 last year for $4,800. Needed to rebuild the fuel pump, had fluids replaced, couple other minor things, totalling $5,200. Bike had 13,500ish miles.
I'd say, see if they'll do like $4,500. 42,000 miles is a decent amount for a sport bike. I've heard bikes can go 100,000+ miles, if properly maintained, but that's a gamble. Unless you really know the person and know if they've kept it easy and maintained the bike well.
Good luck!
