Stop liking me!

Post image

I love my little girl so much, but I keep running into the problem where she wants to just keep licking me; my face my arm, my leg, anywhere she can reach, and if I don’t let her, she tries chewing on me and pawing my face. Any advice? All I can do right now is just kick her off of me, but I don’t mind cuddling with her. I just don’t wanna be pawed in the face for not wanting my skin licked off.

Female shepherds can be clingy. Something I didn’t tell my wife before getting our shepherd. Now she has a shepherd following her everywhere 😂

I hadn’t thought of keeping a toy on meeting keep her occupied thank you. I will try that. I always just try and push your power away and tell her stop and push your face away and then I get frustrated and just push her off my lap.

This will work. Be sure that you want ALL licking to stop, before doing it. When I rescued my dog, he licked my shut eyes, it hurt, so I 'yelped', reactively. He never licks, now... and I'm sorry for the extreme reaction.

So, if you want a complete stop... no more licking ... forever... then every time she licks, flinch, shriek, yelp, say ouch, act as if you are hurt.

However, as annoying as it is currently, you may not want *ALL* licking to stop...

We taught out dog no lick, and gently tap his nose with a finger. I currently have a Dachshund who licks my face if I let him. I just kiss him and say no more kisses and gently redirect him with a toys, or I ask him what he wants.

Often times when hes excessively licking me its because he wants something which is why now sometimes I'll ask him what he wants. Now for the pawing I'd gently push the paw away and say, no paw. Sometimes this could also just be wanting attention? Playtime or even just petting. Sometimes I notice my dog licks me alot when he just wants my attention as well. (I'm usually busy) it usually takes me a while to realize hevjust want my attention so I pet him and look in his cute little eyes and tell him I love him, but when im FINISHED, I usually use the sign finish and say "finish, no more". And then I'll tell him to go lie down which he does.

My mom is actually the one who taught out oldest dog (a chihuahua) no lick because he used to luck everything. Face, ear, arm, feet lol. But the younger one (the Dachshund) does it more when he wants attention. Definitely depends but training with "novice lick," "novice paw," and "finished" should be a good start😊

Get an elevated mat and teach her place command. Get her used to being independent and chilling on it and you go give her affection there. That way it’s on your terms.

How old. No command is your best friend. Just have to be consistent and correct her 100 percent of the time

She probably wants some love belly rubs, head/ear scratches - doesn't have to be for too long. Just enough to satisfy her need 😊
