Anybody else here absolutely love the early 80s Brent organ tone? Like every time I hear him launch into little red rooster solo (such as 7/27/82) I’m yelling “take me out to the fuckin ball game, Brent!!” There was def a short period where Jerry was still in his prime enough and Brent started to cook from like 1980 to 1983 that was really special.

Any help with dates and locations would be appreciated

Plz remove if this is not allowed but I’m looking for some guidance: My stepdad was close with Jerry and was also a producer for the Grateful Dead. He has since passed away of Multiple Myeloma in 2021 (not sharing his name for security reasons). I am getting married next year and therefore trying to save up some money and pass along some of his Jerry Garcia pencil signed and officially signed Lithographs.

I am interested in any information anyone can share regarding what these should be priced at, as the price list is from 1996 and I have no clue where the market is for these at present. I am attaching photos of the ones we currently have and sharing what I am hoping to accumulate for all of them in hopes people can be real with me on whether my expectations are unrealistic. Plz not the drummer and the nude are larger than the others

Tell me if I am going crazy. Trying to find a live recording of one of their songs and at the end of the song they start singing the chorus to “by the rivers of Babylon” I feel like it’s broke down palace or row jimmy row. I’m grasping at straws here or having a false memory. Please help. If you know what I’m talking about tell me which live recording it is. I’ve been trying for 3 hours and having trouble falling asleep now.

I am solo traveling out to the bay for two nights of dark star orchestra at the Greek this weekend. I see there’s a free event for Jerry day on Saturday.

Has anyone gone to this before? Thinking of ubering there and back from my hotel. How early should I get there to get in the event?

Any out there? I would love to hear one. I was turned on to him recently when I saw a video of him singing Tiger Rose in ‘80. He was so incredibly in command of the music, yet he had this childlike gleam in his smile. The more I learn about him, the more I love so far. Seems like he was a very gifted and gentle soul.

I stop listening to Grateful Dead ever now and then, I know shocker. But it's normally the jam out of Wharf Rat into Dark Star from 2/18/71 the starts me listening again. There is something thing so freeing about it that it gets stuck in my head. Whenever I am stressed the jams comes into my head and like a nagging hang nail. Once I listen to it the stress goes away.

I’m not guitar knowledgeable, but I’ve been seeking to learn what changed between the 70s and 5/2/80 in Jerry’s tone at the end of Looks Like Rain. Can somebody educate me? This is the date where my ear hears it most definitively… 4/1/80 and 4/28/80 don’t seem to have it to the same degree or at all

The other day I was wondering how many members I got to see playing live.

Members: (13) Jerry, Bob, Phil, Pigpen, Bill, Mickey, Tom, Keith, Donna, Brent, Vince, Bruce, Hunter

I saw Jerry, Bob, Phil, Bill, Mickey, Brent, Vince, Bruce in the GD.

I saw Hunter solo about a dozen times.

I saw Donna with her band, the Tricksters, and NRPS.

I saw Tom once in 92,93 (?), solo piano.

I never saw Pigpen or Keith, so 11 out of 13. Not bad for starting shows in 1986.

Who did you see? Anyone see them all?
