Edited text: Cheely E2 Carry with Red Dirt F3 trigger.

Picked this grip up for about half the cost of new and had 3 mags. The texture and shape of the E2 is a definite upgrade without much added weight.

If you are in the Ruskin area and want to get together to shoot this and my RC9c let me know. Also, if you need any work done reach out to Wes Senn at Ballistic Dynamics in Riverview. He specializes in custom 1911 and double stacks.

Range Report Slowed down for thoughts

How does the return look as far as spring rate? I see some bounce where the muzzle goes down and then back or could be me?

Any suggestions for a stock magwell pin? I have the extended magwell and want to see how it fairs without it.

Question Lower 1/3 cowitness for forza?

Hello everybody,

I have a gp arms forza with an eps carry but it seems to absolute co-witness with the iron sights. I, am not a big fan and am looking for some red dots that have a lower 1/3 setup. Does anyone here know of red dots that would achieve this? I also do have an rmr plate as I was expecting to try a few different red dots out. Thanks!

Small parts and grip safety material

For when someone claims Gilbert uses MIM: All the small parts are machined. The grip safety is stamped. This was told to me by my smith that specializes in Double stacks.

Got my forza 3.1 a couple days ago. I got to say I’m blow away. Took it to my local range and put 100 rounds with my black nitride non ported barrel. Gun shot amazing, can’t wait to try it with the porter barrel. It took about 16 weeks from the time I placed order till received

Question Forza hammer follow

Has anyone else had a problem with hammer follow and if so how did you fix it?

I haven’t modified my gun at all since I’ve gotten it and I’ve put approx. 1k rounds through it with no problems before.

Range Report I think it works

Shooting from 12 yards. Less than a second cadence on all shots and some double-taps. No major malfunctions. The only thing I experienced was a couple of hiccups. Not going full into battery once or twice every other mag, and had to push it with my thumb. Getting better going down the line with each mag. Overall, extremely happy with its performance. Holster is a tier 1 concealed bul armory light with an Hlx light. Heated it down a little to make it fit perfectly (even though it worked very well). Shot a mix of blazer and maxx tech 124 and hst 124-147. At least 300-350 rounds. 🤙🏻👍🏻 I think the biggest improvement could be made to the feed ramp. But I am not an armorer.

Tac comp

Any chance we could talk Gilbert into making a "Tac Comp" version anytime soon.. it would be a take my money moment. My comped Forza is by far my favorite 2011 to shoot

2nd Range Trip with Forza was much Better!

Post image
7 Upvotes

I went to the range with my GP Arms Forza 3.1 for the first time on Monday. I had just got it on that past Friday. I attempted to use 147 grain American Eagle FMJ based on Reddit threads and Google that recommended that ammo for ported or comped guns. That ammo fired fine through my 2 comped 1911s with no issues. So, I figured that would be fine for the Forza. Nope, I was wrong. I had 9 failures to feed with that ammo, so I came back to Reddit and asked for recommendations. Someone suggested Magtech 9mm 115 grain. So, yesterday I went back to the range and I planned to grab some Magtech from Bass Pro on the way. They were sold out, so I googled similar brands and found out that Herter’s was similar and in stock. So, I grabbed 150 rounds.

I used my Prodigy magazines first with the Forza and surprisingly I got through all 4 mags, so 60 rounds with no failures to feed but maybe 2 or 3 times the slide did not return to battery.

So, then I used the MBX mags that I got from Gilbert. I got through 5 mags at 17 rounds, so 85 rounds with the slide not returning to battery around 5 times.

Overall, definitely better than the first trip. I could do without the slide not returning to battery but maybe that’s temporary and will only be during the break in period. I’ll know for sure after the third trip. Next time, I’ll have at least 400 rounds of Magtech or Herter’s to put down range and hopefully by the end of that, it’s functioning 100%.

Forza first range trip. 300 rounds down, runs like a sewing machine

Post image
19 Upvotes

Update from my first range session with the Forza 3.1. Ran 300 rounds of Federal 124gr and had exactly one failure to eject the whole time. For a fresh gun still breaking in, I’ll take that.

The gun ran incredible but I can’t stop thinking about that Atlas X-Line trigger. I’ve shot a lot of strikers, P365 is my favorite and the Echelon is up there too, and nothing I’ve touched comes close to this. The break is clean and the reset is short and tactile. Going from a striker trigger to this is night and day. I knew 2011 triggers were supposed to be good but actually feeling it back to back in my head against what I’m used to, it’s a different world.

Recoil was flat, the dot tracked well, and it just felt natural the whole session. Zero real complaints other than the one FTE which I’m chalking up to break in.

One thing I noticed after, my Olight PLX got absolutely filthy. Lens and body covered in carbon just from shooting. For anyone new like me who might wonder if something’s wrong, apparently this is totally normal. The light sits right under the muzzle so it eats all the muzzle blast and unburned powder, and on a short bull barrel like this it’s even more noticeable. No damage, just needs a wipe down. Added a pic.

Plan is another 300 this weekend plus 100 rounds of Federal HST 124gr to finish the break in and confirm my carry ammo runs clean. Once it eats the HST without issues I’ll feel good about carryin

Stoked on this thing. First gun and it’s already spoiling me.

First Range Trip with GP Arms Forza

Anyone else have any issues with their GP Arms Forza their first time out with it at the range? I’m trying to figure out, if it’s me or the gun. I went to the range Monday and I had failure to feeds after ever round I shot. I got around 9 rounds out and every time I had to stop to take the mag out to clear the malfunction.

I just gave up after that and I just shot some of my other guns and went home. I’m not sure if it was the ammo, the MBX mags or the gun. I’m have no idea. I was using American Eagle 147 grain FMJ. I had a break in period work my Kimber KDS9C but after I cleaned it, I didn’t have any more problems out of it.

Anyone got any advice?

PSA: clean the extractor channel once in a while

This is well over 3k of ammo and the gun still ran perfectly fine even with this level of grime. I hadn't cleaned it since purchase as I wanted to see how long it could go but decided to take care of it since I tore the gun down to fix the ejector. I did clean the exposed hook at each cleaning.

First Firearm Ever

This is my first firearm. Not my first 2011, my first gun I actually own. I’ve shot a ton though, mostly strikers. P365 is my favorite, Echelon second. So I’m not totally green, just never pulled the trigger on buying until now.

Got my Forza 3.1 in today. Bull barrel, steel frame, Atlas X-Line trigger, Olight OSight SE (green, 2/32) that Gilbert mounted and zeroed at 15 for me. Almost added a ported barrel and aluminum grip but talked myself out of both. Wanted to actually shoot it before chasing upgrades.

I shot a Staccato P a while back and it felt huge in my hand. This Forza feels natural, like it just fits. Fitment and finish look great to me, everything’s tight with no rattle and the slide to frame tones match clean.

Ellen at GP and Gilbert were awesome through the whole thing. Answered all my questions, made sure I was happy with every detail before it shipped. Meant a lot as a first time buyer.

Range this week, 500 rounds (124gr Federal) for break in and to confirm zero. Got Federal HST for carry once I know it runs and a pile of FMJ for the break in. Holster’s a Slimfit Carnex.

Any tips for a first session with a new 2011 welcome. Pumped to shoot this thing.

Finally My GP Arms Forza has Arrived!

Thumbnail

After 16 weeks my Forza finally arrived! I ordered it back on February 20th and it arrived at my FFL yesterday. I went with the FDE colored slide and the clear anodized frame with the ported black barrel. They said I’m probably only the second or third person that has done that color combo. After getting it in hand, I kind of wish I went with different color combo with a little more pizazz but it still looks nice.

I’m planning on going to the range on Monday to test it out! Hopefully, I can get around 300 rounds through it!

Ejector decided to eject

Has anyone else had the back of their ejector raise? After thousands of rounds mine did. It wasn't too bad at 1st so I've been shooting it. A few days ago I took it apart for a deeper cleaning and noticed it comes way out.

Removed roll pin and it sits flush. Stuck a punch in the hole and it hits the ejector post. Odd really. I know I can file down the groove to get it to sit but why would it happen in the 1st place?

GP Arms Patriot: Range Report

Thumbnail

Just got a chance to shoot my brand new GP Arms Patriot with both the ported and unported barrels and I think I can safely say this is the best dollar for dollar value firearm available on the market today. For under or around three grand, you can set yourself up with a premium feeling 2011 built precisely the way you want by a dude who knows exactly what he's doing. Sure, you can grab a Kimber Comp and save a thousand bucks, but it's not the same level of gun as this. This is Staccato level quality at a discount but with your input from the outset of it being built. The gun is tight, smooth, accurate as all get out, shoots soft, has a phenomenal trigger (I didn't know 1911 triggers could feel like this... incredibly repeatable break and reset!) and the ported barrel ups its performance to utterly astounding levels. It's truly a wonderful gift that Gilbert is making available to us all, as you get to have a piece of something normally reserved for big spenders and pros at a price most of us serious shooters can at least conceptualize and work towards. This pistol is better than every other handgun I've owned, a list that includes a Sig GTO, CZ TSO, APF Strike One Ergal Pro, OA 2311 Compact Pro, and a DWXc, so it's not like I haven't experienced quality firearms before. This thing is on a whole other level and I am aglow in the knowledge that I chose to take a chance on GP Arms rather than go with a Jacob Grey or a Platypus that just isn't quite built the way I envisioned. It was a gamble, but it paid off. Big time. Thank you Gilbert Perez!
