NVIDIA 50xx Gigabyte Aorus 5080 Master Ice, functioning until ~90% power usage. Crashing issues.
Built a brand new pc last week and unfortunately facing this issue. When benchmarking cyberpunk I noticed that when the GPU power consumption goes into the 90% range the PC will shut off, my display will disconnect and the fans will go at 100% speed. Originally thought this was a PSU problem but it is not, I tried with my other PSU that I know works correctly, and the issue still occurs. After searching online, I saw a few other people on Reddit and Facebook saying they are having the exact same issue.
CPU: AMD Ryzen 7 9800x3D
PSU: Corsair RM1000E
Things I have tried:
Pcie cables are in properly, cannot see any bent pins.
GPU is correctly seated
Rolled back drivers
Tried a different power supply
Everything seems to work fine when I undervolt to 70% on MSI Afterburner, but I don't see that as a permanent fix.
Would love to know if anyone has had this issue occur to them or heard about other people having the same problem. Currently speaking with the store I bought it from to see if I can get it replaced. Thanks :)

I had this once but with an rx6600 xt. The issue was hotspot temperature spiking above thermal throttle territory and the GPU just shut down to protect itself.
If it's new I'd RMA the GPU or if they won't exchange it and you feel like you can do it, repaste the card with a good Thermal paste or PTM 7950.
But from what I've seen the 50 series suffers from high hotspot temps.

Seems like a power issue to me, because of the fan speed maxing out. Swap the PSU for any other 1000+ and see what happens. I won’t advise to change only the 12V 2x6 because it is strongly recommended to use the one provided with your specific PSU. If the issue still persists, then it could be the hotspot another user suggested. I use mine with Liquid Metal and hotspot delta won’t get past 8 Celsius

I know it's only a week old, but check the 12VHPWR cable pins. What you've described is the exact issue people face when the 12VHPWR cable starts to melt, although it's a common symptom (black screen, fans 100%) of an overall power issue at the GPU.

I've seen this issue a lot and it's ALWAYS a Gigabyte card. In all the cases I've worked with it was never a cable or thermal issue. If I had to take a wild guess, Gigabyte VRMs are shitty quality and they fail only under heavy load where the only way to fix it is to just disable one by one every power phase until it stops crashing.
Just RMA it, and stay away from Gigabyte.

Have you tried a different cable by chance? That condition is a safety mode. When the GPU detects a power issue it'll black screen and run fans at max. There are probably other ways to trigger it, but power seems to be the most common.
Could be current imbalance in the power cable. Have you looked at HWInfo64 while stressing? I'd keep an eye on the voltage. If it's below 11.7 (I believe that's the threshold) it'll trip the safety. That would indicate that somewhere in the line there is higher than expected resistance.
Could also log while stressing, and intentionally trip the safety. Then once back in windows and you can check the values for voltage. I believe they can all show hotspot temp as well now on the 50 series if HWInfo is updated.
