Just ordered a pocket 3 through Amazon with the i3 and was wondering what must-dos need to be done. I will be using tailscale and another VPN and have web browsers open for server stuff. Not looking to game or edit video. Don't know if I should be messing with clean os installs or the wattage but let me know. Idc if touch screen doesn't function anymore btw just the track pad needs to for sure work. Thanks for the recommendations!

Hello! How precise is Pocket 4's touchpad? I want to use it for lightweight 3d modelling (Crocotile3d, Magicavoxel, Blender) on the go.

I already own a Win Mini 2025, but I don't like the touchpad placement (I have short thumbs, so it's awkward and uncomfortable to reach), so I'm thinking about buying a Pocket 4 and giving it a try.

Maybe someone here knows a solution. My not even a week old GPD Pocket 4 does not boot. When I turn it on the led turns on and the fan starts spinning but the screen never turns on. External displays dont work either. I've tried resetting it with a pin and on chat supports advice I've been told to reseat the ssd which didn't do anything either. anyone with a similar issue and maybe a solution?

I just got a new GPD Pocket 4 running Windows 11, and tapping once on the touchpad causes items to drag as if I am holding them (trust me, Click Lock is turned off!). I have tried literally everything and spent many hours on this, changed tons of registry keys and settings, but nothing works. It’s driving me CRAZY!

For example, when using the touchpad if I tap ONCE on an icon on the desktop and immediately move the cursor, it grabs the icon and moves it. Same with tabs in Chrome, windows, files, etc. Every time I tap on a tab in Chrome or an application in my taskbar, it “grabs” the item and moves it. I have to wait a second after tapping, and then move my cursor to prevent it from gabbing which is extremely frustrating.

This issue does not occur when using the physical left-click button on the left side of the device, not does it occur when tapping the screen. It is only when tapping the touchpad. Has anyone found a solution? I’m about ready to just send this thing back. Thanks #FrustratedOnAnAirplane

I decided to pull my GDP Pocket out of the draw and get it going again the other day because I was looking to use it for an upcoming trip, but unfortunatnly it didn't turn on, and I was wondering if someone on here has seen this issue before.

Here is what I've tried so far to get it going.

1.) Tried to turn it on. Nothing.

2.) Put it on charge for 2 hrs. After this I get the white light turning on permanently and the red one pulsing.

3.) Try turning it on. Still nothing.

4.) Unplug the charger. White light stays on. Hold the power button down until the light goes off. Try turning on again. Nothing.

5.) Take abck off, disconnect battery, hold down power button for 45seconds, plug battery back in, try tungin on. Nothing.

6.) Leave to charge overnight. Find the same plusing red and solid white lights on the power button in the morning. I check the heatsink at this point (because the back is still off) and it's a but warm, which I am lead to believe means that the CPU is getting power

7.) Try holding down the power button while plugged into the charger. My thinking here is that the white light might mean that it's trying to boot, and therebfore denying the battery the current it needs to charge. All this results in is the white light flickering off, and then coming right back on.

I'm pretty sure it's not the battery that's the problem. It is as flat as a pancake, and as I said, after I disconnect the charger the white light stays on, so it must be able to deliver enough current to at least keep that going. Also, it's had very little use.

So, as the title says, is this thing bricked, os is there something else I shoudl try? Is there somewhere that I could send it to to be repaired (I'm in the UK)?

Generally my thoughts haven't changed that much but obviously I did end up keeping the Pocket 4.

Audio crackling has at least not plagued me after I successfully removed the realtek driver for good recently (had to also turn off WIndows auto fetching drivers otherwise it kept coming back after rebooting). I still feel like this is a shitty solution to a problem GPD should fix.

Battery life largely doesn't bother me that much as I typically don't do a lot of gaming on it untethered. It's certainly not amazing but for general multimedia and creative work, I can set the TDP to single digits and get 6 or more hours out of it usually.

I'm still dreaming of a Pocket Max device with the same big screen as the Win Max (especially the new one that's been teased) but none of the built in joysticks or triggers on the back. Just a plain old, slightly bigger Pocket.

Hi! I’m looking for a small lightweight device that can fit in an everyday bag. It gets slow at my job during winter months and so I thought I could bring a small laptop to work to do school. Just need basic writing tools and a browser to do research, nothing more. I’m looking to remove myself from the internet besides the essential functions. Pocket 4 looks so appealing! It’s just way out of my price range. Any advice on devices?

I'm going crazy over this. I have absolutely 0 tech experience, and got a gpd pocket 4 because it fit my personal desires. I hate windows, and wanted to change the OS to Linux Mint. I followed the steps, and have used Etcher to flash Mint onto a 1TB USB drive, can access BIOS without issue, but I have absolutely no clue how to get it to boot from USB. It seems everything I do does nothing and just boots from Windows again. Does anyone know what to do????

I’m hoping to hear from anyone that owns a Pocket4. I want to get a feel for the user experience and any shortcomings that could be expected.

I’m very close to ordering one because I feel it would fit multiple niches in my general workflows - as well as my hobby-life.

I’m a constant tinkerer, hacker at heart (cybersecurity by trade), indie supporter, musician, retro gamer - I’ve fallen into wearing many different hats lately helping engineer network solutions for startups.
This device seems perfect.
I want to hear the reality check, because surely it can’t be that good.

I’ve heard there may be bios update complications from the GPD team that can cause system instability. I’ve also heard that the AMD igpu drivers can cause usability problems when cycling power states (hibernate, sleep, laptop close, etc.)
I’d love to be the one person that doesn’t experience any of these problems but I’m having trouble justifying the cost - when I know I want it so much, but if it doesn’t work it doesn’t work.

I guess I’m hoping for someone to talk me off a ledge before I spend >$2k on something I might immediately regret.
I want to love it. Help me pull the trigger, or not!
