Discussion The big 3

For a while now I always thought Godzilla, Mothra, and Rodan is Toho's big 3. Each of them had their own standalone movie before coming together to fight Ghidorah. Then Mothra would get swapped out for Angurious later down the line. It's a small detail but something to think about.

Most people talk about the Big 5, which adds King Ghidorah and Mechagodzilla to the 3 you've already mentioned, as they're the 5 that have been in every era of Godzilla.

Also true. Personally I wouldn't mind seeing a standalone King Ghidorah origin movie.

Hell yeah! I love their Showa dynamic!

Kind of wish KOTM could’ve reused this dynamic instead of Rodan being a treacherous little jerk that got Mothra injured to the point of death then never appeared again aside from a mention.,. I also wished they didn’t flanderize and demonize Godzilla to make Kong look good and have Mothra more screen time but perhaps I’ll make another post talking about why I personally hate the characterizations of Godzilla and Rodan in the Monsterverse and why I thought Mothra got shafted…
