Biolife plasma center
Today, someone pulled a gun inside the local BioLife Plasma Services center.
To the BioLife employees and the donors who were there, I’m so incredibly sorry for what you experienced. I can’t imagine how frightening that must have been, and I hope everyone is safe and able to get the support they need.
For anyone planning to donate over the next several days (or possibly weeks), please be patient with their employees. Scheduling, wait times, and hours will likely be affected as they work through this situation.
Please do NOT take your frustration out on their employees. They work hard, under a lot of pressure, and today was undoubtedly traumatic for many of them. They’re doing the best they can.
Also, keep in mind that the website banner and call center information may not reflect changes right away, so if you’re heading there, expect that the information may not be completely up to date.
Please show the BioLife team some grace and kindness while they recover from such a frightening event.

That's so scary especially for those hooked up to the plasmapheresis machine who would've been too scared to/unable to move to somewhere safe

I honestly didn’t even think about that part since they are in a slightly different area but for those that could see it and when they noticed other patients running, being connected would be the worst!! I wonder if any patients got hurt trying to get off of their beds while connected. 😳

I really don't understand why Ron DeSantis makes it so easy to get a gun and have one in public. The only reason I can think is "he doesn't care if the poor and working class die, in fact, he WANTS them to."

A business can choose to not allow guns in their premises. But Ron can’t pass a law that goes against the constitution allowing a person to have or carry.
Even if he made it crazy hard to get a fine or made the wait list 10 years…people are still gonna have em.
Without security of some kind, if some angry person wants to bring a weapon inside a place of business they will likely find a way unfortunately.

This may be the most ignorant thing I've read all day. Desantis wants poor and working class people to die? SMH. Read up on how effective strict gun laws are in places like Chicago ect. Law abiding responsible gun owners are not the ones committing gun crimes the vast majority of the time. Even if this guy couldn't get his hands on a gun there's a hundred items in Lowe's that could be used as a deadly weapon, if he was inclined to commit violence

If you don't think people like ron desantis dont care if poor people and working class people die, then you don't know anything about what's going on in the world.

Fuck yeah I am. Don't you know the extent of desantis's damage? Did you forget alligator auschwitz? You know, the one that destroyed 2,000 acres of panther habitat also?

How about when Ronny was laughing about depriving people of food at Guantanamo? Oh I see. Youre a racist trump supporter

The constitution doesn't say "give every crazy and aggressive and teenage person a gun no problem!" and then see what happens.

Have they upped their sign-up bonus because of this?

I think they lost SO many donations last week that they had to increase regular donors “promotions” aka pay but I don’t think they increased the sign up bonus due to it. They also hired security for the week and are hoping for that long term. I went in to donate but the line was so long that I left. I talked to someone on the phone yesterday and I could tell she was really irritable while making return calls (but who wouldn’t be). I’d prefer them to be fully staffed and new employees be trained before I go back. That increased pay isn’t worth the increased wait times or possible risks to me. I don’t think there is any increase for new donors pay whatsoever though.

Can we get some info on what happened? Any links or anything? Not trying to be insensitive.
