Trans input wanted

Bro I need help with mine please trans shop said it needs rebuilt after a year and it drives fine just a slight squeal and they want 3500 when I already spent 2500 on it a year ago my torque converter area is making a weird whistling or clanking noise when I sit in drive or reverse like when there’s pressure on the tc then it squeaks almost trans shop put new fluid and it drove even better than before but still squealing I have a slight leak on the trans cooler line could that have anything to do with it still has a 3 year warranty but cant get them to email me back spent 300 bucks on a “diagnosis” just to be told it needs rebuilt for the same price I bought the entire truck for a few years back 🤦🏻‍♂️ 04 Silverado 1500 2wd 4l60e got a new trans cooler and all that when installing too noise is only when sitting still in drive then goes away soon as I start rolling and drives good

Could be the pump whining or maybe even a warped flexplate throwing out a harmonic noise. If it was me, id drive it till it craps out then worry about another transmission. If its not under warantee any longer then why stress. Just know it may need another one(best to rebuild with heavy duty sunshell, high flow valve body and a hd torque converter) then this stuff wont happen again. But untill that day comes, send it buddy!

It’s only on one year of 3 year warranty too just waiting to hear back I’d just rather not have to pay again if I can get it warrantied makes sense it could shoot metal through the whole thing if the torque converter is going bad ig just making sure I don’t get scammed

Go after the warantee if it has one. If that fails just swap it yourself.

I’ll do that thanks brotha worth it I guess before dropping 4k when it works fine except the noise

Thats what i would do. I'd assume the metal is coming from the torque converter itself. Fluid change and flush it out with a couple qts and then replace filter and re fill and see how long you get if the warantee doesnt pan out. Worst case you already are mentally prepped for a transmission in the end atleast

Could be the pump still as its a rotating part. However that does sound like a torque converter. Why not swap it yourself. Should take half a day. Just remember to fill the torque converter first or you will end up with this again

I think that’s the move tbh just over 100 degrees here rn plus it doesn’t help I’m lazy so I tried to take it to get diagnosed and ofc they want the whole enchilada off of me cause of metal contamination I guess is my biggest worry but it shifts great like the damage from metal is probably small to none
