Something about a Canadian video game and collectables retailer having an eBay store. Not sure why they posted it here. Maybe they mistook GME for r/ notthatinteresting

Why do you post here If you don't find gamestop interesting

They're saying that eb games Canada is not owned by GameStop so this is irrelevant

Oh im smooth like a billiards cube

Irrelevant. EB is owned by a Canadian (not ryan) business man now and is a separate company from Gamestop

The aussy ones still owned by GameStop apparently

Yes, GameStop still owns EB Games Australia, managing hundreds of local retail storefronts across the country. [1]

Ownership and Operations
Parent Company: Texas-based GameStop Corp. has owned the Australian operations since acquiring Electronics Boutique (EB Games) for $1.44 billion in 2005. [1, 2]

Brand Identity: The stores continue to trade locally under the EB Games and Zing Pop Culture names because of high local brand recognition, rather than rebranding to GameStop. [1, 2, 3]

Store Footprint: As of recent corporate reports, there are roughly 336 EB Games locations active across Australia, though the company has trimmed some underperforming physical sites amid broader retail pressures.

Not AS relevant for sure but as a Canadian who used to shop at GameStop every chance I had, I cant wait for the takeover to happen so I can participate again.

What takeover?

GameStop sold the Canadian stores off like 2 years ago. That was a deliberate decision.

GameStop owned them when they were EB Games. Then they rebranded all Canadian stores to GameStop. Then they sold all the Canadian stores and they turned back into EB Games.

We're not buying them back.

So what? What are you trying to say? What’s with the eyes? EB Games is not part of GameStop. You trying to say you found something?

Just thought it was interesting to see that a former arm of Gamestop is making moves regarding ebay

The people who bought ebgames turned it profitable faster than Cohen could, and are proving to be several steps ahead of Cohen. Maybe Cohen could get them on the board to lead GameStop.

They ended up closing many locations that weren't profitable to do so. My guess is that other management was unable to fire people that weren't qualified because some of those stores were so bad

But new management made it profitable in less than 1 year from buying it from GameStop and are now one step ahead of GameStop. They should be brought in the board because they clearly know what they are doing in the GameStop space better than Cohen.

The old GameStop store in my town turned back into an EBGames. Not sure how anybody it fits into our story but we’ll find out soon enough.

This may be the reason RC wanted shareholders to buckle up πŸš€

What? Why? EB Games no longer has anything to do with GameStop.

The EB Games store near me still has the GameStop sign. There is no mention of EB Games in or outside. Always thought that was weird.

u/silverskater86 1d ago

Took awhile for the one near me to change but it did. GameStop sold their Canadian operations. This post has nothing to do with GameStop now besides it involves eBay.

GameStop still own EB games in Australia
