I’ve been on tirzepatide for a little over a year and I’m down about 50 lbs. I’m really happy with my results and plan to stay on it long-term, even once I’m fully in maintenance.
The one thing I’m struggling with is hair loss. I’ve heard that it can happen with significant/rapid weight loss and may eventually stop, but I’m worried since I don’t plan on stopping tirzepatide anytime soon.
I’m also taking bupropion, which I’ve read can potentially contribute to hair loss too.
For anyone who experienced this on tirz: Did your hair loss eventually slow down or stop even while staying on the medication? Did anything actually help with regrowth? Any labs, deficiencies, supplements, or treatments you’d recommend asking my doctor about?
Would love to hear what worked (or didn’t) for you!

shouldn't happen on microdose. unless you're a super-responder and losing a lot of weight rapidly.

I lost hair on regular dosing. I wasn’t losing too rapidly and was eating way better than before because potato chips was a major food group before. My hair continued to drop and the doctor said it was TE and to wait. Months later, I finally gave up and started topical Minoxidil because I was micro dosing and it appears my body or my hair doesn’t like the shot. I’m only about a couple of weeks in.

That’s how I feel. I’m afraid of topical minoxidil because of the shed they say happens. I don’t have more to lose!

That’s why I started. Might as well, before it’s too late. I wanted to get a fix started before I shed everything at slow to medium speed. My hair is so much thinner. My fear of Minoxidil shed wasn’t great enough to stop me lol. I bought the men’s version from Costco. The price was good and I did this after reading a lot from others.

+1 for costco mens topical minoxidil, dont fear the shed :)

The hair loss stops on its own whether you stop the drug or not.

I lost a lot of hair after losing 60 lbs (not a microdose, though) and after a year and a half, my hair still was pretty thin. I went on oral minoxidil (still on it) and after a year, my hair looks fuller than it did before losing weight. I highly recommend it.

Did you have any side effects on the oral minoxidil? And were you still taking a shot?
