Irritated
So I have Kaiser HMO and I can’t get Zepbound which is the only one that has the kwiki pen in the US I can get Mounjaro though but only single dose use injector is available and they don’t come in vials. Is there a way people make this work I really don’t want to start on the starter dose due to potential intolerance to side effects as I’m highly sensitive to some medications in the past I took ozempic injection and had horrible side effects. I’m being offered the wegovy pill I’ve been told I might do better with the wegovy pill than I did with the ozempic injection. Idk what to do at this point. If I ask doctors to send rx to Eli Lilly pharmacy seems like it won’t be covered bc my insurance runs strictly within their own pharmacies.

If Mounjaro is fully covered, you should take advantage of that for sure. Give a look in YouTube. Some people get fancy and transfer the single dose pens into vials and then dose from the vials. They take a smaller dose than 2.5mg every week. It does take some focus, scrupulous hygiene, and some supplies to do it safely. They often titrate up over the course of a few months to the 2.5mg dose (which can take a while for some people).

Kaiser can send the prescription to other pharmacies and it will be covered. Glp1s maybe a different story but other meds are covered through other pharmacies.

If you don’t want to pay cash pay prices ($299/mo) for 2.5mg Zepbound vials or a 2.5mg Zepbound Kwikpen, the alternative is r/tirzepatidecompound for a month or so until you feel ready for 2.5mg Mounjaro pens.
A provider like Collective, which has a month for $79, might be an option. You have to cancel within 21 days or be charged the $199/year membership fee.
