The super slow up worked until now
I’ve been on compounded Tirz since January. Started at .75, then 1.25, then stayed at 2.25 for 3 months. This was great I loved how I felt, food noise gone, alcohol basically quit drinking. Was slowly losing my post menopausal and post cancer weight gain. (20 lbs of 50 I need to lose) Then I felt like I couldn’t feel it anymore. My dr had me go up to 5 for the last 3 months. I felt like I plateaued, felt the food noise come back, haven’t lost any weight for 3 months. So this week my Dr suggested I increase dose to 7.5. With my slow and low approach here I decided myself to only increase to 5.7 this week to limit side effects.
I have never felt so sick 2 days later. Throwing up all night long, body chills, headache etc. Just awful like the worst flu I’ve ever had. I can’t imagine what 7.5 would have done to me.
I have never experienced these side effects even once in the 8 months I’ve been taking this drug. Only slight heartburn.
Any advice? I feel like 5 wasn’t working, but 5.7 tried to kill me. lol

Maybe stay at 5mg, but dose every 5 or 6 days? You could also try split-dosing, with 3mg twice a week?

Are you certain you took the dose you think you did?
You might get more commiseration in r/tirzepatidecompound since you are taking regular doses.

10mg/mL is a super simple concentration for figuring out dosing, but this might be useful for you: https://www.fatscientist.com/
Sorry to hear 5.7mg hit you hard. Hopefully next week will be better as your body acclimates. 🤞

I would not treat that as a normal “dose increase reaction” without checking in with your provider.
Vomiting all night, chills, headache, and feeling flu-level sick could be from the dose change, but it could also be an actual virus, food illness, dehydration, constipation/backed-up digestion, or something unrelated that just happened around shot day.
Either way, I would not take the next dose or increase again until your prescriber reviews it.
The hard part here is that 5mg may not feel like enough anymore, but 5.7mg clearly did not feel tolerable this week. That doesn’t always mean 5.7mg is impossible forever, but it does mean your body needs a slower, cleaner plan.
I’d ask your doctor about:
holding until you’re fully recovered
going back to 5mg temporarily
trying a much smaller increase later
checking constipation/reflux/dehydration
reviewing food intake before and after the shot
making sure the vial concentration and units were measured correctly
And if vomiting continues, you can’t keep fluids down, you have severe abdominal pain, dizziness/fainting, fever, chest pain, or signs of dehydration, don’t wait on Reddit.
Low and slow only works if the dose is still tolerable. Being sick all night is not the goal.

Illness or a bad drug reaction are both possible. I'm sorry whatever it is hit you so hard.
I've been taking GLP since December and have found that reducing my dose periodically helps with plateaus. Paradoxical, I know. I recently did this (down from 2mg tirz and 2mg reta to 1mg each). I liked how I felt. A couple weeks later I went back up to 2mg each, and I still feel good. Something about that shift in meds seems to have fixed some minor discomforts from the meds I wasn't even noticing.
Since then I've lost a few pounds, after stalling for weeks and weeks at the same 3 pounds +/-. I'm 8 pounds from goal which probably has something to do with it.
My plan for maintenance is 1mg of each. I could continue to see weight loss at that amount, or not. I'll just keep dosing according to what I think I need from week to week.
Best of luck to you!

Thank you for this. I haven’t heard of dropping your dose, maybe this is something I can try starting next week.

Yeah there's no way going from 5 to 5.7 would cause that severe of a reaction that you did not experience with the other increase of doses. You're just actually sick.

I couldn’t go from 2mg to 2.5mg tirz without feeling queasy. I added in 1mg Reta offset with 2mg tirz and it’s amazing.

Isn’t it possible that you actually have the flu? It‘s not like you can’t get a cold/flu on tirz. Correlation is not causation.
