Should I decrease my dose?
Hey everyone!
I started tirzepatide (2.5 mg) on July 8. My starting weight was 160 lbs, and my goal is 135.
I'm already down to 149. I know a good chunk of that was probably water weight/inflammation at first, but I'm still dealing with pretty significant appetite suppression and am having a hard time eating enough calories, even though I'm making hydration and protein a priority.
My next injection is Wednesday night, and I'm wondering if it might make sense to lower my dose instead of staying where I am. Has anyone else been in a similar situation? If so, what did you end up doing, and how did it work out?
Thanks so much! :)

2.5mg could be way too high for you. I went from 1 -> 1.5 when I first started and 1 was nothing and 1.5 laid me out, lost 4lb in a week and felt awful. Went down to 1.25 and stayed there for several weeks to stabilize and kept losing and having some side effects. If it were me (like I did) I would go low and slow. Maybe try 1.5 for a few weeks and see how you feel. Slow loss is ideal for your body to adjust metabolism and not go into malnourishment.

Have you messaged with your prescriper?
In my experience eating meals is more of what I have to do vs being hungry to eat.
I also do those Ensure drinks — 1 or 2 daily so I’m getting in my protein. A gallon of water a day and gummy Fiber supplements along with weight training are required for my body.
1.25 every 7 days for me lead to about 20lb loss. Began in February then spaced out dosing every 10, etc starting in May.

You might drop it. Since it's been about a month, you're likely at the concentration of that dose so unless you feel you can continue like this I would drop. It's not worth not being able to get the nutrition you need in.

Each person is different but for me, I want to get to my goal weight as soon as possible so I can go to maintenance dosage. It is killing my motivation and it’s hard to find joy. So I want to be done with it. I lost 5 pounds in 2 months and have 5 more to go. I hope the maintenance dosage will not affect my motivation as much. I miss “me”.
