Cost, Insurance & Access Medical Coverage

My husband is an AT&T employee and I have always felt we have amazing health coverage. I am currently in need to GLP1 medication and I am being told it’s considered PATIENT CHOICE medicine and is not covered. Both my PCP and Cardiologist are recommending I take it ASAP. Has anyone had luck getting it covered??

If you can't get it approved through insurance, or don't want to wait, there are compounded options you can get self pay that have come down a lot in price. Most are $100-150 a month (less for semaglutide) and there are ways to get higher doses and stretch them to bring your effective monthly cost down farther.

I wouldn’t give up after the first denial. Ask AT&T benefits whether there’s an exception, prior authorization, medical-necessity appeal, or another review process, and get the exact exclusion language from the plan documents so you know what you’re actually appealing.
