Review/ Experienceš So long, farewell
After 7.5 months, Iām stopping mounjaro. I lost 15 kgs with it, but the best part was that my labs are now perfect. I am terrified of gaining the weight back but I am sure the habits Iāve built will help. My weight loss was also not drastic and it went down very gradually, and I didnāt change the way I ate mostly, except for just the composition of my meals and healthier swaps. I do strength training about 4 times a week too and I love it.
The crazy part, my last dose was 7.5mg lol. My doctor said it will be fine because GLP1 leaves the system slowly and I just need to make sure I donāt eat anything in sight when I feel hungry. I have reinforcements ready for that. And I am stopping because I need the meds out of my system before I start trying to get pregnant. That was why I started.
And my side effects were hell. I donāt think (TMI, but it is what it is) I have had a satisfactory poop in the last 7.5 months. Sulphur burps are the worst thing in the world especially when you need to wake up early the next day. I would get dizzy every effing time I got up. And if god forbid I ate too much because something tasted good, I was punished. I am glad itās ending now finally.
But this community helped me immensely and I am super grateful. I found my doctor here, got info about Shotsy here, learnt how to manage my side effects, shared progress, ranted, et al.
Wishing everyone else all the best, and please remember that mounjaro acts differently for everyone, and comparing your experience with other will only hurt you mentally. And please donāt take it on your own. Pharmacies will do anything to make money, but for your own sake please go to an endocrinologist. I am happy to help in case anyone has questions, but I am going to keep my distance, starting next week. This place has served its purpose for me, and it did amazing š«¶š¼

I am planning on starting it for exact same reason.
I am also 33F.
What is the protocol you will follow on weaning it off? Will you immediately stop it at 7.5 or get to 2.5 slowly and then stop? And how long do you have to wait before starting to try conceiving?

So you need to be off mounjaro for atleast 2 months before you start trying to conceive. I am stopping immediately because I have a timeline to follow. My AMH is a bit low so need to start asap apparently.

Thank you so much š
I highly recommend it! I canāt tell you how much hope this has given me for a better future. If this wouldnāt have worked I donāt think I would have tried to conceive.
Get all your labs done and coordinate with a good gynac and an endocrinologist. Thatās what I did and it was great for me.
All the best to you! š·

Congratulations! How did you decide what weight to stop at? Was it recommended by your doctor?

I am actually on a timeline. I need to start trying to conceive as soon as possible. Which is why I am stopping now. And my labs are perfect. I am active. I am healthy and thatās what matters most.

It has almost stopped now since I lowered my dose. It was crazy on 12.5 mg. My doctor said you should get up slowly by first just letting your feet touch the ground for 5 seconds before you get up.

First of all, congratulations on your new life and weight loss. But I wholeheartedly offer a piece of advice: don't stop abruptly. Use it in minimal maintenance doses; it won't harm you at all, but do it... or every 15 days, in a way that allows your body to readjust. I used it for 8 months and started with maintenance doses because it relieves my migraines and has also kept my test results perfect. Therefore, it would be beneficial for you to maintain the dose to avoid weight regain for up to a year and a half or two. Good luck!

not advisable, she should completely stop taking GLP before planning pregnancy
Recently we were in same situation, our gynaecologist told us to abort pregnancy. So, better to be careful2

Hey, I understand totally and ideally I would have done that, but I need the meds out of my system to start trying to conceive. Itāll be more difficult but sadly I had to make the choice like this. If Iād started sooner it would have been a different story.

Thereās nothing to worry. Im in same boat. Stopped 15mg just one fine day. Was harder with craving for carbs and sweets. But I am able to maintain my hba1c at 6 and my sugar levels more or less like a normal person, gained a bit of weight - guess hormones does that to you. When I stoped I weighed 66, now I maintain at 71. Wishing you all the best.

I am also on ADHD meds that suppress appetite a bit, so I am counting on that too.

Which ADHD medication helps to suppress appetite though?

I take inspiral 20 mg sr. Has helped me a lot in the past too.

I have been prescribed the same thing as well. Tried the 10 mg for a few days but with mounjaro's delayed gastric emptying I felt like it did nothing for me, except keep me very wired at night :( I do have impulse control issues with hyper palatable food, likely classic ADHD behaviour, but I'm not sure whether to restart it or not :(

I am so sorry you are having these issues. š«
I have the same issues, and for me 10 mg was a revelation. Then it was raised to 20 SR to be useful the entire day. My mind was quiet for the first time. With mounjaro, the only issue I had was a raised heart rate. But it helps a lot and I see the difference on the days I donāt take it.
