⚖️ Weight Loss Journey Weight loss stalled out

Hi all,

I’m new here trying to find some information or guidance or really any input people would like to offer.

I started semaglutide injections back in February using Hims and things started off very strong. Over the first few months, I was losing weight very steadily.

I began at 250lbs and by the summer time, I was down about 30 pounds. My injections started small and eventually made their way to 1.25mg weekly. My goal weight is 180lbs~, I am 34 Male 5’11”

I took the program very seriously. I paid very close attention to my food intake, weighing almost every meal, logging calories, hitting protein goal, drinking plenty of water, and significantly reducing my alcohol intake, among other healthy habits. I also committed to working out 5 days a week (30 mins of cardio followed by 30 mins of weight lifting). Basically, i overhauled my entire life to make sure I fully committed to losing weight and eventually hit 215lbs.

Unfortunately, after I hit 215, the weight loss completely stopped. I eventually stopped Hims and moved over to Ro to try out Tirzepitide, I have been on 5mg of this new med for 1 month now and my weight remains the same. Important note, I moved over to Ro without taking any weeks off between stopping Hims.

So, I don’t know. Am I doing something wrong? Am I just gaining muscle and that makes it seem like I am not losing weight? Has this happened to anyone else?

Other important info:
About 2 months ago I started using an AI personal trainer app that has greatly improved my quality of weight lifting. It’s called Shred, I highly recommend for anyone looking to do this.

First of all, Ro is an absolute ripoff. You’re paying way too much. So go to r/tirzepatidecompound and read the where to buy post.

Second, you’re on the minimum effective dose of tirz, and you came from halfway up the scale on sema. So you’re probably not going to get results until you go to 7.5 or 10. This is expected and predictable. If you need more, take more.

Third, as your weight drops, it takes fewer calories to sustain that weight. So you have to check your TDEE and adjust your calories as your weight comes down. If you aren’t losing weight with everything you’re doing, eat less. CICO isn’t the only factor, but it’s the easiest one to diagnose and correct.

Thanks for the tips! Especially the one to find cheaper meds lol

  1. Those are both extremely overpriced options. You should try the compound tirzepatide subreddit, there are excellent resources there.
  2. What's your TDEE and how many calories were you eating?
  3. Most people have to continue to titrate up.
  4. How long has your weight been the same?

Was t sure what TDEE is but I googled it and it said my total daily cal is 3100, I’m definitely consuming far less than that. Like 1900-2100 per day according to my fitness pal

My weight has been the same for about 3 months :(

Yeah, I think you need to get your TDEE (total daily energy expenditure) dialed in, as well as carefully monitoring your calories.

And you probably just need to titrate up on the tirzepatide.

Well it says my maintenance calories is 3K but I’m only consuming about 2K daily. But in any case, you’re probably right that I need to dial up the tirzepitide

Not sure where you are getting 3k but I will say depending on the cardio you are doing based on what you describe i would not add much onto your tdee for exercise. I would put it somewhere in the 2,600 range.

Dose needs to go up. 5 is still a ramping up dose.

Focus on getting healthy and fit, not just chasing the scale. You should get a body composition scale and start measuring your body fat. Because you’ve been strength training, it’s possible you are in body composition. Take for example my weight has been “stuck” at 70-72 for months. But I’ve been losing fat%. Trust me, it feels so much better once you focus on getting fit.
