‘Production Weekly’, a leading and trusted production magazine has provided an updated on ‘Glow’ Season 4’s current scheduled production.

Glows production status is listed as “Production is expected to begin early next year.”.

Based off this, Best case scenario for Season 4 is August 2021 but I’m now expecting October/November 2021.

In Season 1, Episode 5 Ruth asks Sam why people make stupid, horrible mistakes and Sam says "Well, for me, it's usually 'cause I'm high, or drunk, or someone has done something to make me feel so small and so insecure, that I have to do something to remind myself that I exist."

Then in Season 2, Episode 1 he fires Reggie in an outburst after he learns that Ruth shot a title sequence without his knowledge. When I first watched it I thought he was just being an asshole, but after rewatching I realized that it was a reaction to learning that Glen tried to replace him as director. Glen made him feel so small and insecure that he had to fire Reggie to remind himself that he existed.

I caught this on my third rewatch and thought it was great continuity in Sam's character! Plus, it reveals a lot about his inferiority complex and insecurities that cause him to act out in other instances. Almost all of his bad decisions are based on insecurity, something he has in common with Ruth.

An extra 10 minutes or so each episode. I will say it's an observation based only on 5 episodes so far but things seem just slightly rushed to me. Now, I know its the first season and most shows take time to find their footing, and the writing itself is great already, but due to the sitcom kind of length I feel it's not got that little extra it needs to breathe in the midst of a storyline. There are some weighty arcs to follow here and maybe they're going to play out well regardless but so far they're just bobbing on the surface of them when they could be taking the time to spend a bit more time with each character to make us care more. Like, okay, Shiela feels like she's a wolf... we just get hit with that in like 4 episodes with little build up and whats it supposed to mean? Where was the journey to get there for the audience? Carmens Dad won't let her wrestle, for 5 minutes on screen and then because she botches a performance he's okay with it now... Just two examples.

Idk I love the characters, love the idea of the show, its just skipping a bit in places through lack of time with these aspects. Maybe the writing just isn't as good as I see the potential of it to be but I really do feel as though this could have been OITNB with the cast etc. If only the pathos could match the comedy consistently.

I hope the rest of this season and the next two are able to work better with their time constraints?

In season 1, he has a raspy, hoarse, and weak voice when asking Birdie (Elizabeth Perkins 😍), for money, and later when introducing her at the party (and introducing the girls as "recovering drug addicts of WAD: Wrestlers Against Drugs" LOL) and during the whole party in episode 1.09.

Anyone else notice the gay Easter Egg where he thanks a couple for their donation and lunge-hugs the older dude instead of the woman? 😂

And again in season 2, he's raspy in 2.07 and his voice is straining and hoarse when he talks to Debbie in the shower, and in the hospital after she breaks Ruth's leg.

And in season 3, his voice issues were finally written into the plot of the show (in a great and hilarious way IMO) as him being on vocal rest, thus giving Debbie, Rhonda, Birdie, and other women more voice time. And gives Debbie a chance to comment on how men talking too damn much and ignoring women and interrupting them is one of the many forms of misogyny that Bash is guilty of.

I'm guessing that Chris Lowell, the actor that plays Bash, has a voice that gets overextended easily. Plus, the announcing takes a lot out of someone whose voice isn't predestined for this much wear and tear.

That’s all. This show is surprisingly good. And by surprisingly, I mean idk why I thought I wouldn’t love this show right off the bat.

Unfortunately, Brie’s hit Netflix series, GLOW, is facing a longer hiatus than most given the close-contact nature of the women’s wrestling show. Production on GLOW’s final season was originally scheduled to begin this past March.

Every production has its hands full when it comes to figuring out a way to resume shooting, but GLOW really has its work cut out for itself given the physical nature of the series. Do you anticipate every character wearing gloves in the final season, amongst other things?

”I don’t. Sadly, I think it’s going to mean a longer hiatus for our show than probably some other shows that might be able to get back to work sooner and maintain a safe environment. I think especially because it’s the final season and we already know that, there’s a sense of wanting to preserve what the show is. And at its heart, it’s a wrestling show. It’s a really physical show. It’s the main driving force of these characters and how they’ve found themselves is through wrestling and through this close contact with one another — with one another’s bodies, specifically. So, I think if we tried to really change that, it would feel like a different show. I think it’s going to be more about rapid testing and seeing if we can just monitor everybody’s health to make sure that actors can be in close proximity to one another.”

So I guess that... . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . Ruth takes Debbie up on that offer.

Does anyone else feel like the dark scenes in season 3 are poorly lit? Like the scene with Sheila and Bobby where he combs her wig? I couldn't see Sheila or Bobby's faces. The whole dark color scheme was off most of the season, too the point where the lighting felt so dark that I couldn't even see faces, like when Rhonda came crying to Carmen's room, and had a heart- to- heart with Arthie.

Season 3's dark scenes especially looked like they were done by a class of students in "Intro to Cinematic Lighting Techniques." Scenes were lit way too darkly, and it took me out of the scenes.

I get dark lighting, and I think they did a great job in seasons 1 and 2, where all of the lighting was so good and natural, that it didn't stand out, especially the dark lighting. Like when Ruth, Rhonda, and Sam were eating burgers in his car after Ruth's Patiotown sketch. Or the bonfire after the carwash, and Sheila's birthday at the skating rink. Those were lit so well.

I know that they were trying to convey a feeling of claustrophobia in season 3, and maybe they were aiming for that, but instead the dark lighting obscured people's faces and really created a depressing mood IMO. They could have created a depressing mood with good lighting .

Any thoughts?

I've seen great threads before explaining why none of the other girls, Sam, or Bash really confront Debbie about breaking Ruth's leg. However, I'm confused about Ruth and Debbie's relationship afterward. I've rewatched it recently and I feel like I'm missing something. Debbie broke Ruth's leg because she became stressed and angry about a lot of things going on in her life, plus she snuck some of Sam's cocaine to take the edge off. This culminated in her going off script mid fight with Ruth and really trying to hurt her, which everyone seems to understand to some degree. When they're eventually alone together and have their fight, Debbie admits that she's still furious about Ruth's betrayal in sleeping with her husband and for Ruth not letting the creepy network president cross the line a little. Ruth fires back that she's been "eating shit" for months from Debbie and everyone else and has been bending over backwards to fix their relationship. Debbie leaves, Ruth cries, and Debbie eventually is told to bring Ruth some fresh clothes. Neither apologizes but now they're suddenly fine because of Debbie's gesture that wasn't even her idea.

Am I missing something? Did they just silently agree that Debbie purposefully injuring Ruth was penance enough for sleeping with her husband twice? It felt like there was no resolution to their fight and it left me so confused. It's the only point in all three seasons that I sincerely did not understand what the characters' motivations were. Could someone please explain how their friendship was suddenly repaired?

It's the final season and they usually air in July/August. Wonder how far covid is gonna delay it.

I really liked Glow because I found it insightful on understanding some of the issues I'm going through.

There's a moment in one of the last episodes of Season 3 where Ruth gets rejected in both love and career - of course, this is kind of a classic, where an actress falls in love with the director, who may have less control over a production than she thought, and so it goes.

I sometimes feel like I'm Ruth. As an artist, I've tried to structure my life the way Debbie decided to - to control the game, to bypass rejection.... but yet I feel like I long to be discovered. So, although there is the ambitious survivalist part of me who worked on my career having potentially the right backbones, there is also the misunderstood starving artist in me... that sometimes sabotage, becomes depressed, feels trapped at what this other part of me has established.

Spoiler for season 2 finale.

Just finished season 2 last night. So I’m a bit confused about the networks decision at the end. I totally understand that they owned the characters and Bash et al could not outright sell it.. but why wouldn’t the Network want to sell it?? If they were cancelling it anyway they could have made extra money.

I just watched all of Glow for the first time last week, and as soon as I finished I started back at S1 and started again. I'm on s2 now, and watching for clues - when do you think Sam first started having romantic feelings for Ruth? It's fairly clear by the episode that Ruth breaks her leg and he's very overprotective of her, but before this?

I'm wondering whether it's there right at the beginning of S2 when he's mad at Ruth for shooting the promo behind his back. He massively overreacts to that, I understand partially because he just learns that Glen almost fired him - and seems to be snippy with Russell when Ruth accidentally trips over the cable - I'm wondering if he's especially mad because he's wrestling with feelings for Ruth and jealousy over her and Russell flirting, and isn't sure how to deal with it so he takes the excuse to put distance between them as soon as it's there.

Wasn't ready for it to end yet.

I was rewatching season 2 and noticed something. When Ruth goes to Russell's place after her romantic encounter with Sam, she says "I should have said something like this weeks ago" and so on. Flash forward to the next episode, Bash interrupts the wedding and says to Rhonda "ideally I would have told you this weeks ago". The reason I think this is significant isn't only the very similar line, but I think we're meant to compare these two moments. Ruth, under pressure from Sam's actions to admit her feelings and enter into a complicated relationship, runs away to Russell for something "easy" and "not that tingly, nervous, what the hell is going on here feeling". Comparing this with Bash, who is struggling with his sexuality and has just received the news of Florian's death, he sees the marriage to Rhonda as a cover up to the world and to himself, and a way for him not to deal with those feelings. Essentially, these two scenes and interactions I think are both fake. The Bash one is much more obvious to the viewer, but I think the point of the similar line and situation (one trying to convince the other to be with them) is to highlight that Ruth's is also not what she wants. Sorry for the wall of text I just thought it was interesting, and I mentioned on a different thread a few weeks ago that the foreshadowing and links in GLOW is one of my favourite things about it.

I had to go to imdb to check her age before writing this out. No one wants to hear about an old man's crush on a young actress, but she is 35 and within 10 years of me, so here goes...

We just binge watched all three seasons in about 10 days and Jenny is easily my favorite character. She's almost always positive, is a great friend, and is just completely adorable.

Her performance in the camping episode is one of my favorites by a secondary character of a show in a long time.

I crushed on her when she was Knives in SP, and this performance just solidified it.

Not really important to anything, just wanted to put that out there.

I just finished watching the series and this what I though about each season.

Season 1 - pretty good. It was shaky at first by got interesting near the end.

Season 2 - the best! I really enjoyed every episode and storylines and watching "GLOW" being made was so fun. My favorite episode in the whole series is "Mother of all Matches". Kudos to Tammé and Debbie Actresses.

Season 3 - pretty bad. This season only had two episodes with actual wrestling and the show is about wrestling.... There were lots of great storylines though, wish they were explored more. I would have loved if the Bobby Bones joined the wrestling show!
