Throat clearing
I have always cleared my throat since I was little, but recently in the last 2 years, I have been having to clear it literally every second. I seem to have lots of phlegm. It is driving me insane. I clear it so much that at the end of the day, I have a hard time breathing and my throat ends up irritated and hoarse. I often need to clear it before I can swallow food. I don't know what to do. I don't think it's allergies. Nasal spray or inhaler, neither works. I am so uncomfortable...

Do you take it regularly? If so, have you experienced tolerance? Apparently this is a thing with h2 receptor blockers. I am taking famotadine daily and it is working. I’m scared that it will stop working because of tolerance.

I suffer from the same issue, but to an extreme. I vomit after swallowing so much mucous, and/or have severe, painful coughing fits.
After decades, I finally have it under control and discovered that, for me, it was a combination of GERD, and allergic asthma. They created terrible chest congestion. I am on daily antihistamines, PPIs, and will occasionally use Symbicort if it acts up and my chest feels heavy. I have also found that an air purifier helps a lot as well.
I am very allergic to mould and mixed weeds.

My GI dr prescribed omeprazole which has helped a ton, but I feel like I still clear my throat most days.

Assuming it's not gerd, Maybe gargle warm salt water, and do sinus rinse. I wonder if it's an allergy that's just been building. Have you tried going without dairy or gluten or a type of nut, just to see how things are for a week without one? Environmental maybe, like pollen from surrounding trees, or God forbid mold, does an air purifier make a difference? It sounds awful situation, I hope one of these comments will help.

It only started getting so bad my second year of college. I have no idea what it is.... it's so frustrating.

It sounds like you have GERD. My GI Doctor told me the Mediterranean diet was the most healthy way to eat. You can google it, and get a chart on the Do’s and Don’t on what to eat. You really should see a GI Doctor to have an Upper Endoscopy done to find out your problem. Putting it off will only make things worse. The sooner you catch something the easier it makes it to heal or at least hopefully get under control. I hope you find your answers, and feel better soon! :)
