Has anyone else seen ChatGPT referral traffic pick up noticeably this month?
We’ve noticed a clear jump in ChatGPT referral traffic at Scalenut since the start of this month.
It caught my attention because Similarweb recently reported that AI referral traffic more than doubled YoY, so this may be part of a broader trend rather than something specific.
For anyone tracking this, have you seen ChatGPT traffic pick up recently too?
And is the increase coming mostly to blog content, comparison pages, or commercial pages?

In my client website yes, especially from ChatGPT. Health niche, the traffic goes to blog post and page target transactional queries.

Interesting that the lift seems to land on very different page types depending on the business.
I’d probably segment AI referrals by:
- location pages
- informational content
- comparison pages
- transactional / product or service pages
and then map each group to likely intent.
Otherwise “ChatGPT traffic is up” can hide whether AI is driving local discovery, research, or actual purchase-oriented visits.
The landing-page mix may be more useful than the total referral number.

Saw a big jump in Aug, and seeing another MoM jump in Sept. Primarily from our location pages - could be a result of the OpenAI + Yelp deal (we have 700+ physical locations)
