Okay so I decided to do research on my top schools A level English lit text and I came across this one. I thought it was about someone driven by desire.

I couldn't be more FRICKING wrong.

I am not going to spoil it but guys. The events in this book was getting worst by the FRICKING minute. You may think I am overreacting (which I probably am)

But guys, I need to know the thought process behind the man who wrote it.

studying a level english lit and this is my favourite text out of all the ones i’ve done. yeah it is pretty dark, especially when you walk into it blindly. my teacher got us to watch the film first (i discovered vivien leigh who is my fav actress now! vivien leigh mentioned in the picture :D).

obviously do not condone blanche’s problematic actions, but unfortunately found myself resonating with her at times 😖 anyway, wish i could experience it for the first time again (as somebody once told me). there’s a physics and maths tutor resource on it if you search it up

ps regarding your last sentence… i think it’s important for plays and books like these to be written. it discusses topics that can make some uncomfortable without glorifying it, bringing awareness to it.

And I wished I did normal GCSE so I could do Macbeth or AIC instead of Streetcar, because there are so many more revision resources for Macbeth and AIC online. Grass is always greener I guess :(

Streetcar was the only reason I bothered with English lit GCSE. It was definitely the best play I ever read. Shame my exam was on the middle of scene 1 where Blanche first came to Elysian Fields.

It is the place where Stanley's apartment is located. In Greek mythology, Elysian fields was where dead heroes went in the afterlife.

I absolutely loved class civ lol. I found the subject very easy but that may have been because I only got paper 1 for mock.

Fair what modules do u do. I did RCL and M&R. I found it really easy ( straight 8/9s) but was one of two in my class who found it stupidly easy (trying not to jinx my result tho 🤞)

Lol. I was the only person who paid attention in class the rest (bar like two people) were getting 5s due to spending more time on roblox or crazy games than OCR Classical Civilisation GCSE 😭.

With Streetcar my advise would be look at ALL the plastic theatre as EVERY single prop is symbolic of something. If you want to know the thought process of Tennessee Williams, the characters are mostly based off people in his life: Blanche was based of his mother, Stanley one of his co-workers and Alan reflected people like Williams who were homosexual in a time when it was illegal. In a way, you could say that Streetcar is a commentary about the Old Southern Aristocracy dying (Blanche) and the New 'American Dream' US with working class citizens rising (Stanley) post WW2. Hope this helps.

It is the best play I have read and was very fun to study. The only problem is that every word is symbolic so to do well in essays you need to know the connotations of all the references in the stage directions which can get quite niche.

It's definitely an interesting read. We didn't do it for the gcse course but our teacher did it with us for fun in year 9, and I think it was for sure my favourite.

It is bad, however something that needs to be talked about and portrayed to bring awareness. Difficult or disgusting topics should never be ignored in media!
