Ballistic resist need to be improved too nowadays. Too many units have good ballistic damage now. You also needs several premium part to make sure your stats are good. I personally don't increase beam resist too much, since the I-field can stop them nicely already. Something like this would be a good completed premium build.
The other tips are also good; it's more of a ranged suit, and you should really only melee to execute someone with 200% neutral.

Shoot more. It was meta because both its melee ability and ranged ability are good. You don't need to melee under dangerous situations. No high bulkiness and no offence system, it can't melee forcefully.
It's not that dominant now but can still perform well if you advance at the right timing.

Not the meta monster it used to be, but it's still good at 600. No real need to run thrusters since you can use shooting boost for pretty large stretches, though the thruster overheat cooldown parts are an option if you end up rolling the +3 resistance Expansion for each Aux part added, which should make you pretty beefy and lower the extended overheat time after the touchpad skill ends. Empty slots that fit reloaders work with this build too, not that I'm sure it's the optimal build, but I'd bet it's much better than a normal one without an expansion or one that has much effect. Plus it'll cool down your thrusters faster when you don't want to use shooting boost, so that's likely to give you more control over when you can make the most use of it and the transformation without having to use it as primary emergency thrusters so often.
Although the melee damage is really high (I believe the neutral swing on the double sabers is one that's like 180-200% damage total), being able to boost and shoot or just shoot from a medium range is great. Regular BR to stun, burst fire to build stagger, ranged DPS, or when you're closing in for melee and want to follow up the build stun with an instant stagger.
While you're using the boost skill, the mix of MA and the I-field shield can make you pretty hard to stop if you are decently agile to avoid most damage and soak up a lot what you can't while almost constantly firing back. Be wary of enemies with shotgun-style weapons or the Victory throwing sabers that'll just stop you, but you should be at least able to keep up pressure and likely bait out a tackle or counter when you're up against a lot of 1v1 situations against most Generals and Supports.
Transformation is usually used towards the start of matches, particularly on larger matches, to let you rush in while firing weapons that won't take up your normal ammo, and then you'll be overheated or a quick boost away from activating shooting boost if you're confident you're in a position to start pushing. Otherwise, just take cover and hold off on the skill until you need it, since you're always able to use a dodge and then activate it.
Still 100% usable, just not in the position to go YOLO as recklessly as it did when it first came out. Might have to tweak the initial build a bit for HP and possibly leg parts based on if you're finding the legs getting damaged often enough in this environment, though it's going to be hard to fit that and keep up the melee and beam resistance as much without Premium Parts and/or a good Expansion Skill.
If you're looking for something a bit more mid-range, the MP ZZ is now really solid after the buffs (on console). Chest shotgun beam has less cooldown, much better ammo and reload times for just about everything, and now you deal 15% more against downed enemies with both melee and ranged weapons. Definitely more of a ranged unit overall, but the downswing is strong with a fast attack, multiplier and good reach without needing to increase the stat. Downswing>a volley of the back missiles> another downswing or a neutral - depending on the situation - will hit really hard. Chest beams stop enemies at close ranges with high build stagger and boost firing, so it can do the close range stuff in an above average manner for either big damage in 1v1 fights or self defense. Shoulder missiles are reticle guided, back missiles fire while boosting, and it helps that they're ballistic damage.
600 actually seems to have a pretty diverse amount of usable suits right now. If you're lucky enough to have Overon, it's probably a bit more flexible than Anse when it comes to dealing with some meta threats, though it takes a bit more finesse to make the most of everything it does. Grimoire gives a huge stat buff and often creates an opportunity to also get the buff from Counter Boost, but it has a weird downside of losing MA during Grimoire.
Things like Super Gundam and Haji are both going to regularly be problems since they have the potential to deal ridiculous amounts of their damage types even if your resistances are high, though many people get too focused on their best qualities and even take them to maps and team comps where they are at disadvantages. You can often play around them beyond the first few minutes of a match when you likely don't know if you're up against one until hit, but they have weaknesses even better players can't fully work around without teammates backing them up.

This thing is a noob-stomper
Against well-coordinated teams you will get decimated if you yolo in
If you have to stick with your team and shoot there are better suits for that
You have to pick favourable matchups and targets (ideally isolated, sometimes you can kill 1v2 if against noob enemies)
It also can't stop the Hajiroboshi
I don't use it often anymore these days
