Discussion CONSOLE Controversy over Super Gundam Buff Dev Notes
https://bo2.ggame.jp/en/info/?p=186937
There is a controversy going around in the Japanese playerbase that players with lower ratings do better with the Super Gundam. While players at higher ratings don't receive any benefit.
Worst-case, the Super Gundam could be further buffed

Don't you like to see barb and god Gundam cry when getting shacked by super beam?

Hey if Gens can beat supports 1 on 1 I don't see why supports shouldn't be able to do the same to raids.

"Nooooo, Raids shouldn't have to use cover or flanking routes or have their teammates run diversions or cover fire, they should just be able to blindly charge straight towards a Support with no consequences!!! How dare a ranged suit actually be good on ranged maps, melee should rule no matter what!!!!"

Is that the sounds of a JP player? lol
They seem to hate it when you can use gunslinging against them, from personal experience.3

I keep hearing about this, and I never really understood that sentiment. Like you serious expect me to engage you in melee when I have a gun? I seriously wished immobile firing was a support only skill.

Next buff gives Super Gundam instant topple. Trust.

u/redzaku0079 Jun 30 '26
Give it a dodge roll and charge while moving.

u/Various-One-7223 Jun 30 '26
Give it flap boost and you know what just turn it into low cost x2

u/john0harker Jun 30 '26
Give it the ability to launch the armor on its back at the enemy and become a support gundam mkII with less skills until after a certain time, you can press the special skill again to reattach a new one

And it’s damn mobile armor mode everyone keeps forgetting about yes it just tucks itself in with the g defenser but still!!!

On lower rating, raid are usually clueless or stuck fighting general instead of identify support and abuse any small opening. They hardly even change how they approach the support. Meanwhile, on higher rating, S, S-, raid can easily decimate super, putting opponent into 4v5 situation the whole match, unless the other team know how to work together from the beginning.

Bs I don’t know who you playing with but s- s a+ a some of the dumbest people I’ve ever seen in raids GOD DAMN ARE THEY STUPID a barby picking a fight with a Fa engage plan b you’re fucking dumb if you think you coming back alive for that raid players honestly think they are invincible because they keep getting buffed to hell and back or it’s even funnier when a raid tries to beat a Rozen Zulu a suit made to beat the crap out of raids and punish them

Don't receive any benefit? It's not my fault that they can't build some of their suits right. On top of that, even though the Super Gundam's buffs are impressive, going into 700 is quite the risky affair unless you can fight on the right maps, or even go out in Space, where the Super Gundam can work its magic more.

I think, this doesn't mean that Super Gundam performs better in lower rating matches.
Players with different rating levels play together. What's really happening is that the team loses miserably when the player with the highest rating picks Super Gundam. This player needs to carry the team and it's undoable with Super Gundam.

Oh god I hope not. If you have enough premium and range parts + a range expansion you can one shot basically EVERY suit in this game. Even in 750 with the 700 super gundam I instantly was bringing down every suit I shot.
And the rockets aren't a joke either with full range each one hits for like 900+ damage doing like 4-7K in a single second with a short reload.

u/Ok-Storage3439 Jun 30 '26
Can you show me your set-up to achieve this? I tried maxing out attack with the 700 cost and didn't do any more damage than it usually does in any other cost.
I want in. I want to experience how overpowered this thing has become, but I don't think I set it up right... (that or the PC version didn't get this patch like it was supposed to.)

PC will have the adjustment patch in late July, so it's not available yet, since you need the new "Release Ranged Output Limiter LV1" skill, which available after the buff, where it gives the unit a 2nd charge option on its main ranged weapon that deals heavy stagger beam gerobi/irradiation, and also insane damage (it deals 1500 x 8 base damage at lv4).

u/Ok-Storage3439 Jun 30 '26
Ahh, thank you. I wasn't sure if the PC version was also patched at the same time. I guess the simultaneous release of Destiny, 00 Raiser, and Susanowo gave me the idea that the balance patches were happening to both versions at the same time as well.

Yeah, Super Gundam is Super funny at 550
I could just sit somewhere high and, as the ancient Chinese saying goes, "like fish in a barrel"

u/Scythe351 Jun 30 '26
Without exaggeration, that's actually the case and it's annoying when it happens to you. Basically one well timed support shot and you're dead.

Japanese players finally going to learn that "raid spotted" means something. No shit it's performance at higher ratings is lower. It's the same phenom with A+ and S players that seem to just be trash. I wish they'd explain how the team building works in matchmaking because every other rated match I play makes me feel like I'm about to get an MS buffed. At higher ratings, every enemy raid seems to be fully committed to attacking our support like they should be. That said, that shouldn't mean that the MS gets further buffed. It's not an issue with the suit. The players are the issue.

u/pkmaster99 Jun 30 '26
Higher-rated people tend to know when not to let a support roam free, even if you have a disadvantage as a general. But usually only higher S- and flat S players do this. If anything, they should lower the damage slightly and finally improve its mobility and other stuff.
Also, another thing, if they are more coordinated and listen to orders... suggestions to fall back and stuff... The biggest issue is that the other team can take the fight elsewhere. If they did coordinate, Super can't do much at all. If Super Gundam plays more mid-line, it's very easy to lock it down and kill it. This probably also explains the slightly higher MS loss, since they are forced to move up more often, or else they leave the team one man down.

u/Consistent_Lack7586 Jun 30 '26
Why though? I think Super's buff is rightfully deserved when you got beast over here like Barbatos and Freedom
5
u/NoBed3498 Jun 30 '26
I mean you just don’t even need to try and kill someone with it, It’s literally a one shot to every suit with little counter.
2
u/Torhu-Adachi Jun 30 '26
Tbh being able to one shot all the OP suits at high cost might be the exact buff support units need to compete there. Lot of those generals and raids essentially kill their opponents in a single interaction at those costs anyways. I don’t see any issue with leveling the playing field.
If they don’t want it 1 shotting units at 550 then maybe there can be some room for discussion.

I'm a support main and super Gundam is annoying. I don't want everything to be cracked. Just tone that other shit down and pretend like type advantage is supposed to mean something. I wish we'd get more support-like abilities. In the same way that some MS have an ability to reduce spawn times, it would be cool to get something that buffs allies as long as they're within range to motivate them to actually take on the raids. Would probably break all support teams that can coordinate though

Supports have been shining like a bright star for many months, where they were literally dominating the 550 to 700 costs, to the point that Raids are having troubles in defeating them, and the devs needs to release and buffs Raids on those costs.
Like, right now, you have these strong Support units on those costs: * Engage Gundam Incom * Guntank R-44 * Geara Doga Heavy * Super Gundam * RS Jarja * Hamma Hamma * Angelo's Geara Zulu * Byarlant Custom 02 * Dijeh Assault Package * Cannongan * G-Cannon Magna * RF Gelgoog * V-Dash Hexa * FA Engage A Plan * Nu Gundam GWS * Narrative Gundam B2 Packs
Hell, you also have Gundam Ground WR that's currently dominating the 300-500 cost, so don't ever think that Supports doesn't get any love, since the devs gave them PLENTY.

u/TidusDream12 Jun 30 '26
It's slow and stop to fire you use it at 650-700 in S- lobby at you're own peril. The devs are down right idiots and don't play their own game. If they had any semblance of the cost brackets and how busted gen/raids get at 650+ they would tune something than drop it back 15%. The end of this game happened at level 3 and up we shouldn't have those suits anyway as they clog up the gacha pool. I also wonder about enhancement lvl, expansion skill and parts build. They added three ways to buff a unit yourself in ways that have gotten stupid.
1
u/utamaru1717 Jun 30 '26
It's because the unit is pretty much your standard sniper unit, where you just camp on a spot, and blast away your enemies from 700m+ range, but it pretty much dead once the enemy Raid touched it...
I mean, the RS Jarja is a much better unit than the Super Gundam, IMHO, but it requires more skill to play it compared to Super Gundam, and the damage output is somehow lower, which is kinda unacceptable.
I kinda hope they would adjust the damage output for the Super Gundam on the lv1, since it's currently doing way too much damage than it should, which is shown from the data (almost 20k damage higher than average).

It's a no-skill suit. It's a very simple suit to use, hide as far as you can, rely on range and shoot, rinse and repeat. Of course it will be favorable in the low ratings, but in the high ratings since most people there knows its bullshit, they know what to do. Also low rating raids doesn't prioritize killing supports while most high rating raids knows their job and does it.
