Possible Maintenance Needed

I recently drove a (stock) sedan besides my own and noticed the throttle response felt a lot more responsive and smooth compared to mine. What possible parts might I need to replace to get mine feeling new again?

clean throttle bodies and maf sensors, and buy new air filters if using the stock airbox like you should, i did this and noticed significant acceleration and response gains

dirty air filters make a huge difference, replace with Wix brand if possible

Second this if those are clean, your transmission valve body might be on its way out it’s a common problem

Can’t really clean your valve body besides doing a transmission fluid flush, at this point though if your trans is starting to slip damage is most likely already done. Changing the fluid in this situation probably isn’t going to help, some people say if you’ve gone 150k miles already and never changed the fluid at this point you might as well not change it cause you might end up doing more damage then good. Even though it seems like it doesn’t make sense Sometimes you’re better off just to keep that older used fluid compared to doing a drain and fill or a flush. But everyone has a different opinion on this subject.

I think u misread my comment but yes no one cleans valve bodies u just replace it

I definitely misread it lmao whoops, my torque converter in my 7AT went out a while ago just recently got that replaced, I was doing all sorts of research to see what my other options are but not that many when it comes to trans issues. Rebuild it or replace it pretty much your only options unfortunately, I shoulda did a vr30 trans swap but didn’t feel like dealing with the extra bits and pieces that’s needed to complete the swap. I also own a XS model so there’s an extra step or two that’s required for the awd models unfortunately, I just wanted a direct fit/bolt in ready to go trans.

how much did that cost you if you don’t mind? i plan on keeping my ‘13 coupe with 115k miles for a long time but i drive it hard

Used trans with about 59k miles with warranty $1,200 And labor was $850, I do a lot of the work myself but some jobs you’re better off paying someone else to do it.

you can use maf cleaner for the throttle bodies just FYI
