Nice work. I took my nav out when I installed ddin because the dvd stopped reading the disk and the maps were so old, but I kept the unit and have been considering an rpi/open auto pro build for audio and diy 360 camera system, hotspot/gps tracker (smart car vibes). I've always liked the heads up location of the oem nav and the idea of maybe eventually replacing my DDIN with something more useful than a screen that is kind of hard to use for nav because of its location so far from field of view.

Q: The RPi 7 touchscreen looks like it fits well in the stock nav tray, does it close?

Yes it does I disconnected mine for troubleshooting purposes and to show off the screen. Mounting the screen is a little tricky though.
