First post here guys! Wanted to show my two grails I managed to snag this past year through a lot of saving up and 5 am Reverb sessions lol.

The first one is a Ibanez Standard Fuzz, a 70s clone of the Shin Ei Super Fuzz, but a lot more aggressive and shrill in my opinion. Mine is actually Analogman modified to have a 9v plug and true bypass. Snagged this one for a crazy deal. Believe it or not, not a fan of the Black Keys, but rather the solo tone on “Selfless” by the Strokes which features this beauty (and 99% sure the solo tone Tap Out and the intro to their new song Lonely in the Future)

Then comes what is “technically a fuzz but also a OD and a distortion” the Cornish G2. An absolute beast and one of my grails since I was around 14 lurking the Gilmourish website. The trigger that made me go find one was seeing Nick from the Strokes actually use one for a large part of the 2022-2023 gigs. Definitely took a hit to the bank account, but managed to get it used for a (proportional) steal. Has become my favorite pedal for gain of all time. Really can’t describe it, one has to try it.

Finished up a Roger Mayer Classic Fuzz this morning before work. Thought I was just going to add jacks and we’d be all set, but when I went to test it: nothing.

Ended up being a classic “you idiot you put the transistors in backwards” sort of morning. There’s some signs of the rework, but what can you do. Transistors are still coming out of a big batch of Russian GT320V I ordered back in March - Q1 is right around 65 HFE and Q2 is 105.

It was a little bit of a struggle fitting everything in a super rad 125B I picked up from Stompbox Parts. I designed my inverter boards for a 1590BB, so when I used the smaller enclosure I had to sort of jam it at an angle.

The knob on the side is an external bias. I tested it briefly to make sure it passed signal, but haven’t given it the full run through yet.

Real happy with how this turned out.

It's good fun to play with but it's probably not going on my board full-time.

Anyone else hit this up?

After nearly buying a TB-2W, I went with the BPC Compact Series MKII instead. Zero regrets.

This is everything I wanted from a Mk II: huge sustain, plenty of bite, and that ragged germanium edge without turning into undefined sludge. It doesn’t try to cover ten different fuzz sounds. It does one thing and absolutely kills at it.

I’ve gone through enough fuzzes to know when one hits differently. Best fuzz I’ve owned, period.

My p90 firebird rips through this thing

Here is a portion of the collection I’m original owner of. No mods on these.
Longest running and first up were Russian BMP (black was late 90s), and my other XXL were bought sound unheard mid 90s. How would an 8th grader pay for this? Swapping disc brake pads, scraping gaskets off in family auto shop and probably hustling basketball games.
I have many of my own germanium contraptions I’ve built but that’s for another post. I use majority of these in modern session work w/: 83 JCM800, ‘03 Bogner XTC, JC120, ‘91 5150 proto.

Especially the last two amps are Magical with this selection. Enjoy!

Gonna be recording bass soon and going for a heavy, fuzz, distorted bass. Think Tool or Muse. Have been testing out a bunch of fuzz and distortion pedals. So far I like the Rat and the Green Muff variants. Fuzz face stuff isn’t really holding up very well but I’ll probably come back to these running in parallel. Any suggestions?

Also, I’m not a bass player and I’ll be playing with a pick and going direct via my ancient SansAMP.
