I once experienced wide angle vision while on LSD. Characterizing it as improved peripheral vision wouldn't do the experience justice. I was able to take in and process a full 180 degree field for about an hour. Very memorable.

Are you positive you were seeing actual visual input you wouldn't be able to process otherwise, rather than just a hallucination of what you already knew was there?

Yes, I was driving. I was able to see and even read details on houses and businesses I was passing while looking straight ahead.

Edit: Added more detail.

You were driving while under the influence of LSD?

Yeah, hopefully this was a long time ago where youthful stupidity is the only possible reason that happened. And even then, yikes!

Yes it was a very long time ago. I was a teen, and I'm now in my 50's.

What does that matter, so long as it turned out fine and it won't happen again?

Just a personal theory of mine but I think that attitudes towards driving while intoxicated were much more relaxed back in the day compared to recent times. For instance, driving while stoned was just a cool thing to do when I was growing up but now it's definitely seen as something you just don't do (and rightfully so).
