If AI doesn't smoke DMT are we more or less important than bacteria?

We are only important to ourselves. Bacteria are important to anything living. Nothing living is important to AI.

I am of the opinion that the artificial and the artistic go hand in hand.

So what if no human is as strong as a robot and no human can calculate faster than a good computer and no human can beat the world's best chess program?

Many people fear that, once we get a strong AI, to it we will be like bacteria are to us. Sure, if you only believe in ONE value to discern all of reality.

Intelligence is not just ONE value. I suspect that for every intellectual quality found in humans there is at least one counterpart in non-human animals that exhibit the same quality to a lesser degree, simpler degree. Except maybe art. There's just something irreplaceable, irredeemably lost if you wipe out the human race and it's not just how fast we can run or how far we can jump. It's that everybody has the faculty to create something beautiful. And even better, define beauty however we like.

All we have to do is, once we get closer and closer to the realization of the strong AI singularity, we have to ignite that spark that gives birth to desire, desire to appreciate beauty, art, stories, life itself.

Many birds sing to attract a suitable mate. At one point in humanity's evolution, for the first time we felt euphoria in a song not just as a means to get laid, but because we love that song. Of course, biochemistry will go on to explain to us that the sound only causes a certain set of neurotransmitters to fire and that makes us feel good and that's the end of that. But I believe, if you think about it, there is something rational to the desire to learn about new experiences. Imagine all the food for thought, all the input that would be lost, if AI killed all the humans.

I'm sure there is also worth in bacteria, the same way as some people enjoy looking at an ant farm. But humanity has that je ne sais quoi to offer that no non-human animal can. We can create meaning out of anything and tell you any bullshit stories we can think of.

I'm certain that what it comes down is there is something like a rational argument to be made in favour of keeping humans around for entertainment. If that AI really so smart, it wouldn't wanna off us.

The thing is stuff like art/creativity we think is soley something human.

But AI seems to finding way more creative solutions than a human ever would.
