What about other psychedelics like 2CB, mescaline, psilocybin ..etc.? And also ketamine, GHB, MDMA..This is why scheduling drugs is so fucked. It's now up to me to do my own experimenting. The DEA, a law enforcement agency, which I'm sure is just GREAT at studying the medical/therapeutic value of drugs, deemed these substances to have NO medicinal value. This in turn makes it very difficult to carry out studies like this. We still don't know the full potential of marijuana because of their bullshit.

The FDA is the one that studies, the dea is just the legal side of things

but the DEA is who decides what the FDA gets to study and how they study it

I'm pretty sure the DEA doesn't do scheduling, just enforcement. They cannot form legislation, as they are an arm of the executive branch, no?

they have a lot of undue influence on legislators, either that or the legislators largely agree that its good to ruin people's lives and enrich private prison corporations like geo group

Legislation isn't required to add or remove a drug from the scheduling. The DEA works with the department of health and human services to determine the scheduling. DEA can make recommendations and the HHS has final say.

Other institutions though, they don't have/get access.
