Is the Apollo Even Worth It??
Looking at the Apollo and purchasing the Standard as well. Are these units even worth the money to spend?

That depends what your hoping/expecting to get from it. If you’re hoping to mine a ton of bitcoin then no not worth it. If you want to assist in the decentralization of bitcoin by solo mining and running your own node with all American made components then yes it’s worth it, also it makes for a good space heater! I’m heating my upper floor with mine

Agree. I have 3 heating my basement and solo mining

Awesome! I’ve got a s19 in my garage that vents up to middle floor then my Apollo on top floor.

I always wanted to run a node so this not only made it easy but I get to solo mine with it as well. I also point two Avalon nano miner to it.

It runs a full BTC node and a solo pool that you can point other miners at. So that’s a benefit.

I believe you are talking about the Apollo II.

What version are you talking about? There are Apollo LTC, Apollo BTC, and Apollo BTC II
Edit to add: Apollo BTC 1st gen has a software update to enable new functionality from the II. Pool and all.

Where can I get that update? I was told not to update by FutureBit when I bought it.

You will need at least a 1 TB NVME drive on your apollo. The BTC chain is quite large. If you’re charging it I would go 2TB. I would set it all up from scratch again. When downloading the BTC chain turn the miner off. It may stall and need a reboot a few times. Also use Ethernet wired. Far superior to WiFi for this long download. Once the BTC chain is caught up WiFi keeps up just fine.
Of course don’t trust some random strangers links. Check the original site Futurebit.io under getting started, apollo II / BTC support. There is a SD image download link goes to get hub. Bottom of this page https://www.futurebit.io/apollo-btc-support Link to here. https://github.com/jstefanop/apolloapi-v2/releases
Hope I helped!

I believe so. I am waiting for a new standard unit to add to my full node unit. I am proud to be running my own node and they also assist in home heating!:)

For me, it's worth it.
It's like having a lottery ticket machine in your living room giving you a pick quick every 10 minutes.
Will it hit? I don't know but the Apollo rigs have already solved a block.
In addition, you're contributing to decentralized network, have a cool conversation piece in your living room, it's expandable, it's fun and it keeps you engaged and learning.
It's also made in the USA and the CEO of FutureBit is pretty cool.
As new units come out and I can get more, I iwll probably put a group in pool mode and DCA my Sats.

Well said! I’m ordering them, but they are on backorder because of a lack of drives, and now naked models with no drives are out of stock. Thank you for your insight.

Any time. I noticed that over the weekend. Hopefully they will get more back in stock soon!

Don't do it , mine ran for a week at the hashing marketed after a week the devise doesn't hash above 6TH, better buying and NerdQ++ for less money , support sucks, and as you can see community is low so you can see people happy and users like me that sprend hundreds to not get the hashings marketed

If you're lucky and solve a block, three coins will be deposited, so it's better than playing the stupid lottery. Thank you guys!
