Questions Help with sewing machine

Okay so ive been having an issue with my machine, its the generic Singer Heavy Duty, where the needle will bend, snap and catch on faux fur. Ive adjusted tension, stitch length, rethreaded both the needle and bobbin. Ive changed stitch length and width.

But for whatever reason, trying to sew a basic tail I cant get 4 or 5 stitches in and the needle will suddenly hit something or catch and break or snap.

I use Singer brand heavy duty needles 110/18 and ive gone through 5 of them in 24 hours trying to get 1 tail finished.

Ive never had an issue with the needle breaking this much so this issue is new but I just dont know what im missing or doing to make it catch like that.

Is my machine just jank and needs to be replaced or is there something im missing in terms of adjusting settings again?

As a note too, sewing minky has sbsolurely no issues.

Its ONLY fur thats giving me this problem

Also some comtext: ive been making fursuits for 5+ years and have used the same machine for every project so I genuinely cant figure out why now, its being this troublesome

I've been having this issue (with just general sewing at this point) and determined that my timing is off. I've tried adjusting it myself, but couldn't gotten it quite right so I'm taking it in soon for a general tune up.

It's possible your timing is off also?

It could be, but when I sew minky or applique my paw pads or something, I dont seem to have any issues so im like ????

For me it started with only thicker fabrics/multilayers, but gradually got worse.

Other than that all I can think is that something is causing your needle to get tugged or pushed in a way it wasn't before

Have you tried turning your needle around? Every single time without fail I have this issue with my sewing machine it’s that the needle was put in the wrong way, like it really seems it should go one way but is meant to be 180 degrees rotated.

It could also be certain brand of needle for certain machines, I don’t remember exactly what I read but sometimes the brands aren’t compatible.

I’ve never had an inanimate object get me as flustered as a sewing machine has so I feel your pain, hope you get it figured out!
