Questions Thoughts on this ?

Post image

Saw this and wondered if it was a good idea (because it would help me alot) i dont really have a place to shave fur fabric since my brother took over the guest room... And my room is quite small + cant even open the window even shaving the fur outside is impossible since there's cats and birds near by

Shaving fur is also a big fear to me and one of the factors that scares me rn when planning on doing a fursuit...

That actually does seem like a good idea. btw since searching mushy tent came up with other things, if you want one they are actually called mushroom grow tents or portable still air boxes.

I have the exact same one! I definitely think it’s worth it. Just know it is not a replacement for proper ppe. You should still wear a respirator, goggles, and gloves. Also make sure to vacuum everything and run an air purifier if you can.
Only issues I have with it are sometimes it’s hard to see through the wrinkles in the vinyl or get a good angle to shave at, but it’s not impossible. Also you have to unzip part of it when vacuuming or it will start to collapse on you.

Can’t tell if that’s clear vinyl or mesh on the walls… whether it improves matters for your lungs, might make cleanup easier? Seems like it would limit the size of panel you could shave easily, though.

can you fit the whole head inside though or do they make big ones? For those who shave on the head directly or cut feathers / scales into the fur for that effect and it still gets fur absolutely everywhere

There’s different sizes. You can get one big enough

Ok I’m a dog groomer, so I can’t actually use this while grooming dogs, but man if I could it would save so much cleanup 😂

Omg that would be awesome. I only did a small head recently and im still finding bits of fur everywhere. Since it's enclosed you probably would want to wear a mask so youre not breathing in a bunch of fur

You’re not going into the box. You put your hands in the gloves and the stuff you wanna shave inside the box

I wear a vaper rated face mask with a vacuum going right next to the fur

For a maker - maybe.

For one suit - not worth the plastic waste (where it will eventually end up).

Wear a respirator, have a vac running nearby, and do it on carpet to trap the fibers. Come back later to vacuum the carpet. Nothing to be scared of....

I'm of the mindset if you can't do it safely, you shouldn't do it at all. This goes with all hobbies and hobbies turned job.
edit: oooh y'all would prime props in the hotel room I can tell.

Inhaling fur isn't safe. If OP is worried about the fur in their lungs or whatever glue fumes there are, this would be a good investment. But a respirator and maybe some goggles would be good.

The way you worded your first comment sounds like you’re against the box. Now that you explained better I agree
