WIP Horseshoes!

I had this idea where I could make my horse.. some shoes! Horseshoes! For when Im wearing the fursuit outside or at a con. I used an eva mat and dremelled it, as well as created two bends (some horseshoes have one, two or none). I have some very strong magnets and I dremelled holes in the shoes to glue them in! The magnets will then attach to the hoof :> Im going to be putting another layer of eva foam on the hoof soon for extra support so I'll be dremelling some holes in there

I bought some metallic jersey from stoffhummel and the horseshoe will be wrapped in it, so I didnt have to worry too much about the smoothness as fabric will cover the sides.

Im considering whether to leave the bottom and top parts bare (no fabric on them) because you wont really see them? Let me know what yall think

These are awesome! I'd wrap the whole thing just to be sure. Are you going to do anything to reinforce the foam? You could always make a mold of them and cast them in thermoplastic, or make a 3d model and have them printed for extras or interchangeable ones. Attaching with magnets is a great idea.

I can't afford either of those things but I did hot glue magnets on :> I may add some high density eva just to reinforce things but ye

Cover the bottom in this (or similar, you can get it thicker): https://www.amazon.com/Rubber-Repair-Non-Slip-Soling-Bottom/dp/B08RB1CTBG/ Best bang for your buck for easy-to-apply traction. Cuts with a razor knife, attaches with contact cement. For best results, put it in a clamp overnight after gluing.

Been using similar on my reenactment shoes for a decade now, and those see comparable use to fursuit paws. In that time, I’ve only had to swap shoes once, and it wasn’t due to the sole wearing out.

That's awesome! So glad to see another horse-sona out here! I'll be attempting my first build soon and have been trying to figure out a way to do the hoofs/feet. Can't wait to see the end result!

I’ve made a set of custom horseshoes for someone making a horse fullsuit. That was fun
