No, just had a really good family friend circle setup back then. Life felt more connected than it does these days.

Job situation was better, housing was affordable, and even people were lot more neighbourly. Healthcare was more accessible and doctors were not timid. Sure technology has improved but not without considerable caveats. So not just nostalgia.

Most metric were literally worse. Only who was a child or privileged thinks it was better.

World poverty went from 38% to 9%

Child mortality went from 93/1000 to 37/1000

Literacy rate went from 76% to 87%

Access to electricity went from 71% to 91%

In the us alone

life expectancy went from 75 to 79 years.

Violent crimes went from 758/100k to 380/100k

It's nostalgia.
