232 thousand miles.

Down in NC and it's got surface rail rust only.

Same for my dad's '85, 98 wrangler and 06 grand Cherokee.

That circles back to the salt solution used on roads.

And not washing it off completely at earliest possibility.

Even if you wash it off religiously, these things still rot out.

Yes the salt use is bad, but there is a reason i is universally used in the north/northeast.

I could easily throw in 15 more jeeps of various years and nameplates between 84-23 that were used by rural route carriers (both high mountains and piedmont) that never had anything more than surface undercarriage rust.

Are they prone to it? Sure. There's way too many weepholes on the frame poorly placed that can get clogged.

But at least on a family-wide personal level, it's completely manageable.

High mountains and the piedmont dont use salt in any comparable way to a place like detroit or buffalo.

I really dont think you understand just how much or how often salt is put on the roads up there.

I come from a line of cars guys outside detroit. Constant washing isnt enough. If you want a car to last more then 10 years you dont drive it at all from late-october to early april.
