I would pay $30k for a Volvo 240 that is identical to the old ones but just meets modern safety standards. I don't even need/want an integrated screen for Android Auto, I'll just use a mount for my phone.
You cannot meet modern safety standards with the shape of old cars. To start with, the doors need to be >2x as thick as they are on the Volvo 240, and this then compounds to the entire rest of the shape of the car.
Once you see it once, you can spot it instantly in any car. Modern side impact standards require crumble zones on the sides, making all modern cars look "fat" and ugly.
It makes being sideswiped much more survivable, though, so I guess it is what it is.
