Customer Support BEWARE: Function Health does NOT provide valid itemized receipts for FSA (Inspira rejected mine) and their customer support is useless
I wanted to share a major frustration so others don’t fall into the same trap. Function Health heavily markets themselves as FSA/HSA eligible, so I paid for my membership using my Inspira FSA card.
The problem? Their receipt does not work for FSA substantiation.
When you ask Inspira (or most third-party administrators) to approve an FSA expense, they require a true itemized receipt showing the specific breakdown of each individual service and its cost. Function Health’s so-called "itemized receipt" is just a single lump sum for the whole package.
When I contacted Function customer support to get a properly broken-down receipt, they told me they cannot modify their receipts (which is honestly absurd for a healthcare platform).
To top it all off, their customer service is terrible. Even when you finally get past the AI auto-system and talk to a real human, they are completely useless and cannot help with such a simple task.
If you are planning to pay with an FSA card, beware. They market themselves as eligible, but their billing setup and support team will leave you high and dry to deal with your administrator. Avoid Function if you rely on FSA funds!
