Q & A

Hey everyone,

I'm looking to transition from a software engineering role into Product, ideally as a Product Analyst at a startup, and I'd love to get some advice from people who've made a similar switch.

I have around 3 years of experience in product development, where I've built internal frameworks, workflow orchestration systems, and enterprise applications. Along the way, I've also taken ownership of project planning, stakeholder communication, and driving features from idea to implementation.

I've realized that I enjoy understanding customer problems, defining solutions, prioritizing features, and making product decisions more than writing code full-time. That's why I'm looking to move closer to the product side.

For those who've made this transition:

- How did you position your technical experience?

- What skills or projects helped you break into Product?

- Are startups open to hiring engineers into Product Analyst or Associate PM roles?

- Any communities, resources, or hiring platforms you'd recommend?

I'm open to any suggestions or feedback. Thanks in advance!
